Look, I get what you're saying but who cares what the media does? Even the NHL is niche compared to the NBA, MLB and especially the NFL. Chicago is no different in that regards than any other major US city.

Kinda the same situation that we have right here in Madison that so many Badger hockey fans rail about. Hockey is a niche sport at all levels on a graduated scale.

There are plenty of true blue Hawks fans (like me) who deserve this success after the teams of the 80s & 90s broke our hearts so many times and then ownership ripped out our hearts and showed them to us during the dark decade.


Look, far be it from me to want anything good sports-wise for Chicagoans but I sleep well at night knowing that all but the true Hawks fans - while they enjoy this coz it's all they have - wish with all their hearts that it was the Bears or Cubs (minus Sox fans of course) winning a title instead. They don't take true joy in this just like any other bandwagon fan. And I give a **** about the bandwagon fans.

I'm happy for the guys I grew up with and went to games with who lived and (mostly) died with me over the years following this team.

Mentioned to a buddy just now, after unleashing a very insensitive taunt relating to the Kings...

Pre-game, and during the game? No holds barred, for the most part. BUT, after the game? Sportsmanlike as all hell. Even if you have to buy a beer for your hated rival. That's what sports is about.

Yep. Just watch the the handshake line. Hockey is awesome.

yes, Im sure Gurt would be the first one to say how happy he is for Vikings or Gopher FB fans of the past 40 years were the unthinkable to happen. ;)

That could quite possibly cause me to explode.

Thing is, like Brent said, I'd be happy (sorta) for my friends from there and let it go.

My roommate in College for two years was from New Prague and a big North Stars/Gophers/Twins/Vikings fan. We got on just fine.

Had lots of teammates from the Cities who turned into friends and we all got on just fine too.


You just have to leave it once the game ends. It helps watching the games in separate places too.

I haven't gone to the Hawks board on HF yet either.

I made the mistake of going in there during the third and the ledge jumpers made me turn around and leave.
