Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Okay, I think we're done in Ottawa for the night after that.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Strong rumor that Tippett is looking to GTFO out of Phoenix, since it does not look like solid ownership is coming anytime soon. Vancouver and Dallas seem most likely, perhaps Colorado if Patty Waaahhhhh is asking for $Canada.
The combination of Tippett and the league's most talented roster could be lethal for the rest of the league.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

If Tippett could take his trap & interfere system back to 15 years ago, he'd be a great coach and have a high likelihood of winning a Cup. Today, he's just Ken Hitchcock without the ring - a decent coach who makes average teams look great until the playoffs start.

Honestly, I think Torts has lost this club and it may be time to go.

As a diehard Rangers fan, that was exactly my thought as I watched game 3. Torts game plan is based on heart, grit, hard work, and determination. They were all completely missing from that game. Boston had all those qualities in spades. The Rangers did not. A sure sign the team is no longer responding to Torts.

(Also, a problem with that strategy coupled with Torts apparent disdain for offense is that it usually means long series and thus the extra games and style wears you out. Last year's "poop out" against NJ in the conference finals proved that.)

Fellow Rangers fans say they want Lindy Ruff, but I wouldn't be so sure.

I have thought this, too. But, I'm not so adament about it. However, if the Rangers don't get rid of Sather also, the coach won't matter.

Eh. Face on the tickets is $130. With fees I didn't do bad at all...especially since it's MSG. I was going to need to cross it off the list of arenas eventually. I could probably easily spend $150 for a regular season game.

Depending on where you sit, you can definitely get Rangers regular season tickets for way less than $150. Even way less than face value depending on the game. I've had very good luck with StubHub and Ticket Xchange even when they are having great years.

Re: NHL Playoffs 2013: Shut up, Pierre...

Thread title is awesome, but I do have to give Pierre at least a little credit for unloading on the Rangers power play the way he did. Did he overstep? Probably. Was it obvious? Probably. But it was honest. The only thing that would have made the rant better would be if he concluded by saying "Hey Torts, your entire power play stinks."

A Division III college team could score more power play goals against Boston than that putrid cr*p the Rangers put out there.

I agree with all of this. Add into that Torts inability/refusual to make any type of in-game changes outside of throwing out line combinations of whoever is sitting close to him.

Anyone with any amount of insight into MSG says that Dolan absolutely loves Sather, so his dismissal isn't about to happen anytime soon. :( However, I do believe it is the coaches job to get the most out of the players he is given and I no longer think Torts is capable of doing that with the NYR.

True, sad yet very true. A would bet my last dollar that a DIII team could at the very least hold the offensive zone longer and create more shots.
