NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

It was a 12 year gap between pro hockey. NOT 19.

And sometimes you find that rare egg. I was a huge bouncyball fan growing up (the Celts' Big Three+1, baby!). I had no experience with the Minneapolis Lakers. However, when MN got their own team, I was rather excited.

Granted, as the game changed, my tastes changed, and now I don't give two sh*s about bouncyball, but the point is, a kid that had never experienced a local pro basketball team loved the team that was granted to his city. Maybe Lil' Jon is one of those people who breaks the stereotype that he falls into.

The Darkness is a kid that breaks a sterotype. Lil Jon is one of the reasons for that sterotype. :p

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

I knew someone would say that.

If Twitter is to be believed, a True North source is now saying they are still in talks.

My take? Someone got a scoop (announcement is supposed to be Tuesday) and didn't sit on it. TNSE won't confirm the report since they want Tue. to be the big deal. Kind of late now, no? Just go ahead, make it official, and let everyone party all weekend... Then have a formal party at Portage & Main Tuesday.

Multiple sources telling ESPN that the deal is NOT done yet.

In general, ESPN has no business reporting on hockey, but as far as I can tell, for major stories, such as this one, they do stick their nose in and find out the truth. In America, there's ESPN, and then there's nobody else.

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

Thinking this morning that there have to be a few teams (Wild, Oilers and Flames) that can't be exactly thrilled this morning.

We discussed the Oilers and Flames a little bit before, but certainly there will be fans in Saskatchewan who will stop being fans of those two teams and switch to being fans of the Winnipeg/Manitoba Jets/Moose/Falcons/whatever. Also, there are people like me - live in northern Minnesota (or North Dakota) and Winnipeg is as close (or closer for several) than St. Paul. Personally, it's a 4 hour drive to either for me, with just the addition of Customs to the trip north (but it's also all 4 lane road that way - and you have an hour and a half on 2 lane roads to the south).

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

The absurdity in this is how much the NHL is bending itself backwards to save Phoenix and in Atlanta's case it was pretty much, "Huh, go ahead." That may be because ASG is supposedly planning to only sell the Thrashers and hold onto the Hawks and the arena and after the last few years, who the hell wants to deal with them to keep arena access?
