NHL 2021: I Pledge Allegiance to Gritty

Evander Kane is being put on waivers with the intention to terminate his contract. Supposedly he violated the AHL Covid rules to go to Vancouver and showed up 1/7 instead of 12/31 when he was supposed to. The NHLPA is going to take a break from not helping Kyle Beach to instantly file a grievance.

Carolina is so thin at goal that they just signed Gopher goalie LaFontaine in the middle of the season.

They couldn’t do that two days ago? Although scoring goals wasn’t exactly MSU’s problem this weekend.

Every now and then guys will leave during winter break. Who’s the last to leave during the second half?

Yep, he gone. Close era begins. You know what? Good for him. Came on as a practice goalie.

Stunned, too- and a second for good for him, he struggled here at Michigan, found himself, and played really well for Minnesota. Now he's a pro. Other goalies that have come through here at the same time are not playing anymore.

I was referring to the backup Justen Close when I said "good for him."

While I'm not a fan of the mid-season leaving, I imagine it is hard for a goalie to turn down an opportunity like this. Suddenly you're not buried on the depth chart and they're offering a bonus.

I'm confused. What does being buried on the depth chart have to do with LaFontaine moving to the NHL?

I have no problem with the kid going to the NHL early. The 70k (AHL)/750k (NHL) contract doesn't hurt. But, I am sure it was more about being able to make it to the pro-level and living that dream.

Four of their AHL goalies are out/injured. And the ECHL team had to sign an emergency tender to fill their gaps from the AHL call ups.

And, one of the healthy AHL'ers is with the parent club.

LaFontaine gets an 80k signing bonus as well.

He's likely coming to Chicago, and is a phone call from the show.

Holland has talked to Evander Kane's agent and has said, "I believe in second chances", LMFAO. Isn't this about his fifth chance at this point? And don't the Oilers need to shore up the back-end and goaltending if they want to make a deep playoff run?
