Hubbub is it's not related to the player abuse initiative, NHL already knew about it, and it relates to something that happened a few days ago.

I'd buy it - that's pretty much the definitive way to earn an NHL-approved banhammer with that level of decisiveness.

Sexual/domestic stuff there'd be police involved and/or an internal investigation to announce.

Alcohol/drugs they'd announce he's been relieved of his duties and quietly get him help.

My partner walked in on me watching the Red Wings game, so I pulled my pants down and said it was porn to avoid the embarrassment.

Malkin and Ovechkin were not drafted yet.

Auston Matthews was 6 years old.

The Marlins were World Series champions.

Mats Sundin was still with the team.
