KHL side Avangard Omsk will reportedly play some of their first 2018-19 home games either in Mytishchi (suburban Moscow), or in Sochi. Avangard's arena in Omsk is in need of emergency repairs, and has been closed temporarily and won't be ready for the start of the season in early September.

Not ideal.

Though not unexpected, it's still tough to accept the passing of Stan Mikita. For those not familiar with the story, Stan had a long with battle with dementia, which is similar to Alzheimer's.

Very sad to hear that Hank won't be able to go out on his own terms. What a career he's had. I'm going to miss him.

Meh, they're getting paid very well to be bad at their jobs, can't say that's the case for most people.

KHL season is off to a weird start. In the first three days, SKA St. Petersburg lost to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod after blowing a 3-1 lead, CSKA lost to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg on the road (first time since 2010 when CSKA was a mess), and Metallurg Magnitogorsk lost to Dinamo Riga at home
