KHL team Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg has started the season **17-0** after a 4-1 win over Sibir Novosibirsk today.
Some names you may recognize on that team:
Bowling Green alumnus Dan Sexton
Former World Junior Champion and now Kazakh NT member Nigel Dawes
Merrimack alumnus and French NT member Stephane Da Costa
Alexei Vasilevsky, the brother of Tampa Bay goalie Andrei
Islanders draft pick Anatoly Golyshev
Former (and maybe future?) Canuck Nikita Tryamkin

The last tsar was, in fact, killed there. In hockey, it is more known as the birthplace of Pavel Datsyuk, Nikolai Khabibulin, Vladimir Malakhov, and Alexei Yashin.

Tampa visited Chicago Sunday, both teams playing the back end of a back to back. Tampa put 33 shots on net in the 2nd period alone, ending up at 55 shots for the game. That 33 shot period set a new NHL record (dating back to 97-98 when they began tracking shots by period).
