5 NHL teams are interested in Voynov:

I'll translate, roughly:

"Defender Vyacheslav Voynov is not going to extend his contract with SKA, which is expiring after the season, "Business Online" reports.

Five NHL clubs have made it clear that they are interested in Voynov: Florida, Montreal, Islanders, Rangers, and Winnipeg. The player's former club, Los Angeles, is not interested in a return for the Russian player.

Recall that the Russian national was disqualified from the North American league for battery towards his wife; after this, he left the USA. Before he has permission to return to the NHL's side, Voynov needs to register for an American visa and permission to work."

Can the Eastern Conference hurry the hell up? I'd like for the Sharks to start the next round before they learn how to play.

Good guy, but a needed change.

Rumor has it Nashville Assistant GM Paul Fenton is the leading candidate for the Wild GM job, per Michael Russo.

Going to be awhile before the Wild contend for a Cup. Bad contracts and draft picks that haven’t panned out like first thought. Going to have to have patience.

No, we need Ovi and the Caps to lose another game 7 at home. And the Leafs to get retribution and win game 7 in Boston.

On the bright side, if the Caps lose to the farking Pens again UrinatingTree might go on a 3-day coke binge.

It's what we all want.

< hand in air >

Will he get that work visa given that history? Was he convicted in the US, or just charged?

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

I missed this earlier. Putin's handpicked KHL all-star team, SKA St. Petersberg, lost their conference finals. No reports of refs or players falling out of windows yet.

He was charged, but it's just a misdemeanor, and he voluntarily went back to Russia. From the LA Times:
After pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of corporal injury to a spouse, he served almost two months in jail in 2015. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement then took him into custody and he returned to Russia rather than go through deportation proceedings. The Kings terminated his six-year, $25-million contract.

Voynov remains suspended from the NHL. The league blocked him from participating in the World Cup in 2016. But Voynov, who plays professionally for SKA St. Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League, is welcome at the Olympics.

From the looks of it, because of his past history as an NHL player, getting the required P-1A Visa is easy-peasy.

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

Also, from the resident Russian NHL expert:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Slava Voynov is skipping the World Championship to concentrate all his efforts on getting back to the NHL. He'll need the US Department of State to allow him to come back despite his deportation. The Department might be otherwise preoccupied at the moment.</p>— Slava Malamud (@SlavaMalamud) <a href="https://twitter.com/SlavaMalamud/status/985138056578654208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 14, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

So, I would guess filling out the P-1A, the I-129 and a donation or hotel stay at a Trump property and he's good to go.

Alex Ovechkin joins rare club of players with 50+ career playoff goals, but no Stanley Cup ring:

Daniel Alfredsson
Jeremy Roenick
Daniel Briere
Steve Thomas
Cam Neely
Brian Propp
Patrick Marleau
Dino Ciccarelli

Leafs win and it's the last we'll see of Rancourt.

GO LEAFS GO! :)
