NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

Re: NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

Wow!

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment made a huge announcement on Tuesday.

As of July 1st of next year, the Air Canada Centre will become Scotiabank Arena for the following 20 years after an agreement has been reached with the bank.

The building has had the Air Canada name since it opened it's doors back in 1999 when a $30million/20yr agreement was signed.

The new agreement will obviously cost way more than that and can be compared to recent deals in New York involving Citi Field and Barclays Center which cost about $20million a season.

“It will be a change,” said Dave Hopkinson, MLSE’s chief commercial officer. “It will be a change to the landscape of Toronto.”

The move also continues Scotiabank's push to be strongly involved with hockey in Canada. The bank has naming rights for Scotiabank Hometown Hockey, Scotiabank Wednesday Night Hockey, Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada and the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

I'm done when it becomes the Scotiabank Stanley Cup.

Wait until you see Scotiabank in the front and centre of the Maple Leaf sweater with a small Maple Leaf in top left corner of the sweater.

Montreal would have the big Molson's logo.

I'm trying to get somebody to do a Fly Emirates Capitals Jersey so I can wear it to a Caps game and give Ted ideas.

It's all about HRR.

Re: NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

So when does TFC's shirt and stadium deal with BMO expire? So TFC can play in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League at Scotiabank Field while wearing Scotiabank jerseys...

I remember the days when Harold Ballard wouldn't allow board ads. :D

New NHL rules

1) Teams that challenge a play for being offside and lose will take a minor penalty.
2) Teams can no longer call their timeout after icing the puck.

Florida Panthers are relocating to Boston.
At least until the hurricane passes

Not bad for a Delbarton and Princeton grad!!

@PierreVLeBrun: Further to @FriedgeHNIC, George Parros to be named as early as today as new head of Player Safety. (Con't)
