I still find it hard to believe ESPN is involved in this tourney. Team North America has just a wee bit of speed. Wow.

Beyond goaltending and maybe the first line, it's possible Team North America is better than Team USA...

Depends how good you think Matt Murray is and who USA puts in net ;). Quick is overrated and I'd much rather see USA put Schneider in net.

But overall I agree, I think they have more talent for sure and part of that is due to USA making some dumb selections.

No PxP for North America vs. Europe. They're taking the wrong feed from SportsNet.

I guess they really don't want the property.

Edit: They fixed it after the 3rd NA goal.

Imagine how bad it would be if defensive liability Dustin Byfuglian had played.

Going with Quick in net seems to be a great decision. He saved six of nine shots in the first two periods. That's good, right?

Who the eff picked this team? Like I said, the North American team is likely better than Team USA.

I also think Europe was severely overlooked. They're not the best but when you can take half of Slovakia and then the top players from the rest of the countries you aren't going to be a pushover. If you had a Team Africa in the World Cup they'd do pretty well, even against Germany and Argentina.

It's truly a perfect storm of awful. Part of the reason, IMO, was that the NHL insisted on having the U23 "continental" teams. US needs more youth and more freewheeling creativity, and those guys are on Team NA.

Compounding that, is the selection of Torts for head coach. He's a nasty, old MF way beyond his prime clutch-and-grab years. He sucks all the fun out of every team he's ever coached, and it showed tonight.

BTW, SportsNet in Canada is also doing electronic board advertising.

Oh and the Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron line is on fire. 3-0 Canada after 1.

Sure, Team USA was embarrassed by a bunch of crippled geriatrics, but let's not lose sight of what matters: every player stood for the Anthem. That's the important part.
