In the moment? Absolutely.

There was still a game to play though. Bad things happen. Gotta move past the moment.


Funny (as always) that this comes from a member(s) of the fan base that likes to point out every time Eaves scowls at a ref.

Are you implying that Yeo and the Wild tanked the rest of the game? I didn't see that, but fine.

Doesn't matter anyway. They're likely out of a playoff spot for the duration. If it's not the illnesses, it's the injuries. If it's not the injuries, it's the goaltending. If it's not the goaltending, it's Vanek.

Two things are working against them though.

1. I heard on the Wild broadcast that 77% of teams that are in a playoff spot on Thanksgiving end up making the playoffs. Wild are in the 23%.
2. The way points are handed out in the NHL it's way hard to climb out of a hole and way better not to fall in one in the first place.

It'll be ok. They will go about 11-3 in a soft Feb. schedule.

Yeo is usually pretty reserved. I think he saw how his players reacted, and decided that he had to have their back. Baseball managers do this a lot.

It's fun being a Leafs fan right now:

--10-1-1 and 21 of 24 possible points since getting embarrassed 9-2 by Nashville.
--6 wins in a row after smoking the Ducks 6-2 last night
--highest-scoring team in the league
--won a league-best 14 at home
--3 points back of the Pens in the East standings

Not ready to plan the parade yet. They were outshot last night 42-27 and that can't happen in the post-season. The next couple of weeks will be the big test as the WJC takes over the ACC. Eight of the next 9 and 15 of the next 20 are on the road.

Considering the turmoil after the Preds game it's hard to believe the turnaround.

No. I believe that the Hawks woke back up.

My saying that Yeo needed a hug was partially influenced by having to listen to the Wild announcers (especially the color guy) go on and on about the call and then declare Kaner's goal essentially luck as the puck "seems to bounce that way for him." Hearing them and seeing Yeo on my screen acting out their tantrum brought out the snark.

Seeing him continue his rant even after the game made my other comments for me. Like SOH said, that game was lost by the Wild (won by the Hawks) in the 2nd.



I do enjoy that on hfboards a few Wild posters have played the conspiracy card that the call was made by Bettman coz he wants to make sure that the Hawks make the playoffs.

There are still Leafs fans that blame Kerry Fraser for the non-call on Gretzky in 93 costing the Buds a spot in the Stanley Cup final against Montreal. Not that I'm one of them, of course.

During the Wild postgame Wes Walz said that the right call was made and that for the last 10 years or so that's the way the game has been called as it pertains to hooking. Since it's Wes Walz saying that I don't think I have that much to whine about.

What I think Wild fans should be whining about is how they completely disappeared in the second period. This team ALL SEASON has taken periods off and not played for 60 minutes. It's the difference between winning and losing. In fact the Blackhawks were so dominate in the second period I thought the Wild were Edmonton.

Hawks fans are complaining about the same thing. They honestly don't play a full 60 very often and rely on their talent to carry them more often than most of us would like to see. Luckily their talent is quite a bit deeper than many opponents, so it works much of the time.

Agreed, but really, no team is.

The margin isn't great enough - especially in a sport like hockey.


And it should have been 3. Luckily the players know it and should be more focused this campaign.
