@StLouisBlues: Blues President/GM of Hockey Operations Doug Armstrong announced that goaltender Martin Brodeur will practice with the team starting Friday.

The Caps' Tom Wilson and the Leafs' Korbinian Holzer got into a fight tonight, and Holzer accidentally punched the linesman trying to break it up.

Alex Ovechkin and his KHL Moscow club teammate Leo Komarov got too close in a neutral zone fly-by that sent the latter to the ice and to the Leafs dressing room. Ovechkin raised his upper arm for a split second and decked the pesky Leaf with the puck out of range.

With Toronto well ahead in the game when the third-period hit happened, it had the earmarks of a frustration cheap-shot and will be reviewed by the league, though the two have been on good terms.

“To be honest, I wasn’t even trying to hit him because he was moving away,” Ovechkin said. “But it is what it is and I don’t know what to say.”

Because I guess their team wasn't old enough already?

Speaking of players whose best years are way way behind them, the Blues signed Martha Brodeur to a one-year contract.

Gordie Howe likely suffered another big stroke yesterday, and is resting in hospital currently, in the latest update. I can't help but feel very fortunate that I was able to see him make a brief appearance at the Winter Classic alumni game last year to drop the ceremonial puck before the festivities.

I'm not too thrilled with the signing, but I understand it, and that it's for his NHL experience, considering Allen and Binnington have a combined 25ish NHL games experience.

Binnington gets sent back to the Chicago Wolves where he'll continue to work on his game. Allen is the #1 in St. Louis and Marty is just the backup.


The real interesting thing will be what happens when Elliott is healthy in a couple months. Does Marty get waived and accept an AHL assignment? Do the Blues keep him as a third goalie?

The Kings tried to sneak Slava Voynov into practice, got caught, and were slapped with a $100K fine.

The Wild powerplay is going to end this season in single digit percentage. It just makes me laugh at this point.
