Hawks are controlling play thus far in the 1st... can't close the deal though... Elimination games aren't for the faint of heart :o

Both conference finals going to a game 7 for only the third time in history. Last time was 15 years ago.

Reaffirmed my Blackhawk roots Wednesday evening, Game 6 at the UC. Section 330. Nosebleed seat in an upper corner; cheapest price point; purchase made at face value. But the atmosphere was priceless. Shaw's crucial goal late in the 3rd came right at us. When the backhander hit the top shelf, there was an absolute explosion of relief and ecstasy.

Attending the NHL Playoffs: A Beautiful Thing.

Sounds like the atmosphere in my den as the boy and I leaped out of our seats. ;)

Going to be tough to beat the Rangers and Lunqvist tonight at the Garden. Lundqvist has won 6 straight game 7's with a save percentage of .973 in those games. Good luck Bolts.

When watching at home, I've had to create a "silent explosion" technique to use when celebration time comes. No sense upsetting the dog. He's more a student of the game; willing to study the action on the TV screen, but disliking sudden loud noises. And truth be told, his favorite part of the proceedings is when a dog appears onscreen in a commercial.;)

Random Game 6 Reflection: A while back there was a "FIB vs. True Fan" conversation regarding the Hawks fanbase. I offer you one True Fan example: Shortly before opening face-off, a twenty-something woman in a walking cast struggled up the aisle to our row. She took her seat -- naturally in the middle of the section -- and locked in on the game. After the crucial Shaw goal but before his empty-netter, a couple of friends/family members came to collect the injured fan. Given the walking cast, they felt she should leave early and beat the crowd. If looks could kill! She indicated that there was no way she was leaving early and dismissed her companions with a disdainful wave of the hand. In my book that's a fan of good character, fighting her way through injury.

I did pick Tampa to go to the Cup at the beginning of the year. Sometimes I hate being right.

So far in NHL.com bracket challenge, I've only missed the Wild/Blues series, and obviously numerous game totals for the 1st round. (Ranked 3090 now that it updated). I've got the Ducks tomorrow in it, Tampa winning it all.

I'll get to go to at least 1 game in Tampa. 2 if Chicago wins tomorrow.

I'm stunned that nobody HERE has posted the obscure trivia of the day. I'm sure by now that we know that Bishop is only the third goalie to have two shut outs in game 7 in one playoff- the others being Pat Roy and Tim Thomas.

Obscure trivia- two of the three are products of college hockey, one from Vermont the other from Maine. (even more obscure- both lost to a team from Michigan in a national semi final...)

So, does Bishop play like Roy (who lost in the Conference final) or Thomas (who won the cup)?

As long as they keep talking college hockey on NBCSN

I thought UVM lost to CC on a hand pass goal?
