Who takes over for hitchcock? And who the hell is the blues goalie next year?

Welp Blues. Thanks for trying. Again.

Maybe they can send reinforcements to the Wolves since the Canucks are going to load up the Comets roster...

Jake Allen is in a contract year (I can hear the zeros being erased from his contract right now), and Elliott is locked up for another two years. They'll both (likely) be back. It's not like they were the problem. The problem was their offense deciding to give up and their defense causing turnovers.

I can't see Hitchcock being retained. Not sure what the terms on his contract are though.

Maybe not THE problem but doesn't seem like either is able to seize the job

Re: NHL 2015, Part II - Stanley Cup Playoff Race and Beyond

The cupboard is empty of Goaltenders.

In the AHL they have Jordan Binnington, who, when Elliott was hurt earlier in the year, the Blues decided to leave him in Chicago and sign Martin Brodeur instead.

Binnington isn't having Jake Allen/Jimmy Howard/other long in the tooth AHL goaltenders type career numbers.

Behind him in the AHL is... no one. The other Wolves goaltender is Matt Climie (an AHL only contract, but spent extra time in Blues camp and impressed them), and he told a fan at the last regular season game that "there is no fu**ing way I'm coming back to this organization."

They have Niklas Lundstrom in the ECHL (Alaska Aces), but he hasn't been impressive at all, and isn't even assigned to the Wolves as a black ace backup for the playoffs. He had one call-up to the Wolves due to an injury Climie had, and saw maybe 10 minutes of ice time in relief of some stinkers that Binnington had.

Re: NHL 2015, Part II - Stanley Cup Playoff Race and Beyond

And a reminder, Tampa Bay Lightning netminder Ben Bishop was given up on by the Blues organization to make room for Jake Allen in Peoria...

Good info, thanks. How do you/blues fans feel about allen? Still think he is the guy of the future?

I think so. He's been on the Jimmy Howard career path. I can't see them giving up on him so quick, after they invested so much time in his development (four years in the minors gaining starter experience). He's been good, rarely has any stinkers (like Game 5).

As for all Blues fans, I can't speak for them. Just as one fan of the AHL team they affiliated with.

Dubnyk doesn't look like he's missing any meals

They'll go in with Elliott in mind, sign Vanbiesbrouck for a couple games, then some young kid will take the reigns down the stretch and fold in the postseason. It's what the Blues do.

This is probably the reverse jinx, but if the Capitals lose tomorrow night, Russia is going to have a heck of a team in the World Championships.

Crosby is playing for Canada. Want to see a joke? Look at the US roster.
