NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Rumors that Everybody's favorite all star captain is headed to Montreal.

This all works out. Jagr can step down as Atlantic captain and go **** off to a beach somewhere like he really wanted to. John Scott takes his place as captain so the fan vote gets what it wanted. Arizona sends Max Domi to the ASG in Scott's place like they really wanted. No one gets hurt, everyone is happy.

John Scott was previously asked by both NHL and Arizona Coyotes to bow out of NHL All-Star Game. He refused. Trade likely takes care of that

Looks like the NHL said **** you to the fans who voted him into the All-Star Game. Betteman at his finest.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

I got it.

We tie John Scott to a pole at one end of the ice. Whoever frees him gets to use him as they see fit.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

and it gets worse. Montreal has put him down to the AHL, so he can no longer be captain at in league. and twins on the way. going to a French speaking city. wow, was the fix ever in on that one. and one sportswriter called him "untalented". I'd call a player who just by sitting on the bench and can make the other team not play dirty, talented, granted in an usual way. he is also a great presence in the locker room, one of those intangibles.

truly a low low point in an already low low NHL.

I echo a comment I saw on Deadspin: Why hasn't the NHLPA gotten involved on this? This is very obvious collusion to deprive a player of bonus money at the very least.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

I feel bad for Scott as a person since he was looking forward to it once the vote was in.

But I also think the fans who voted him in are idiots.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

The pathetic/hilarious thing was an organization with brains would have changed the whole voting system after the "Vote for Rory" Fitzpatrick thing a few years ago. But NHL, so...

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

How so? The All-Star Game is a fvcking joke as is.

The NHL brought this upon themselves by instituting the fan vote in the first place. Scott should play.

When the score ends up 12-11 on a regular basis, you shouldn't be taking the **** thing serious to begin with. Let him play. And if the NHL has a problem with it, tough titty. They're the ones who set this process up in the first place. Now they don't want to wear it.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Won't happen, but would be nice to see the other players boycott if he can't play.

I haven't watched an ASG since I was a kid, but Scott might have gotten me to check in for a bit.

Good summation of the whole debacle

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

Pretty amazing to watch the NHL get basically everything wrong... all the time... every year... for as long as I can remember.

They were worried about a mockery being made of the ASG?

The ASG has made a mockery of the sport of hockey since Rendezvous 86 or whenever the Russians came over and played the NHL all-stars. That was the last time it was watchable.

Most sports use a form of fan vote. So the NHL isn't doing something out of the norm.

Online voting is the real mistake. Too easy to scam the system.

Re: NHL 2015, Part 3: Stanley Cup and Offseason

The NHL is rum by the biggest bunch of idiots in the world. Not so much Bettman but more the owners. Is John Scott any worse than Kelly Kisio or any other * pick from the expansion teams in the 90's because "every team must have a representative"? These MFers make money in spite if their own stupidity. And of course we enable this *.

How else do you propose having a fan vote? Or are you proposing there never should have been a fan vote in the first place (I wouldn't disagree)?

Regardless, you dodged my response. How does that make all fans who campaigned/voted for Scott "idiots"?

By making fan voting only part of the equation. Then if you do online it can't break the system.

Fans voting for someone who played a 11 games for the all star game makes them idiots. I get its a pointless exhibition and that's part of why fans get to vote in the first place. But they are still idiots.
