Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Every time I see it in slow motion, sure looks intentional to me though. Just my opinion.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

The same former Bruin from Boston Mike Milbury? Yeah, I'm sure he has no dog in that hunt.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Karlsson plays for the bruins? Maybe you should read what I posted. He did not say cooke did it intentionally.

They remind me of the Gophers of a few seasons ago. They just refuse to get their elbows dirty and do the gritty work down low. Therefore, they suck.

That is a perfect analogy. Everytime I watch a game, like tonight, it makes my stomach turn at how Koivu refuses to shoot the **** puck.... I think it is time to send him to the second line and put Cullen up with Parise and Heatley. Heately is another guy who is disappointing so far. He used to be a solid goal scorer but has lost it. Nice to see Parise ring the bell.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Just because Matt Cooke cleaned up his game for a short period of time doesn't mean he deserves the benefit of the doubt for the much larger sample size of him playing like a dink.

Sens owner Eugene Melnyk would agree with you.

Melnyk wondered why Cooke -- who has been suspended five times -- is allowed to play in the league. All this incident did was reinforce Melnyk's thinking.

"This guy should be kicked ... He doesn't belong in the league. He belongs somewhere where the goons play," said an emotional Melnyk. "Get him in the Central league. He can be a $60,000-a-year guy playing pick-up hockey there.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Apparently the NHL has removed the blue line. Duchene scored on this blown call and the goal counted!

Five goals in a little over 3 minutes. Last team with the puck wins!

To be fair, he was only a foot or two offsides. Combine that with the lack of speed, and excellent positioning by the linesman....I can see how that was missed. :D

The worst part is the fact the official is in such perfect position to make the call.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Some of the newer refs and linesmen are too busy watching the game to actually call the game. I've seen too many AHL referees and linesmen slackjawed and in awe of a play on the ice to actually raise their whistle.

And then you have a few of the seasoned referees who are too busy making sure the fans know the game is about him and not the twelve players on the ice actually playing hockey.

It's really gotten worse the last few years. The officials need to be held to a higher standard; scored on what they call/miss. Don't force them to call more/less, force them to call smarter plays.

It doesn't help when you have, for example: Dave Andrews (AHL President) commenting how a vicious boarding leading to a kid being knocked out "should never have been called, if anything it should have been just two minutes for tripping. Two for boarding was the complete wrong call."

From my collegiate fan experience, it was easily a five and a game.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Apparently the linesman is a veteran (unidentified) who ruled that the Preds played the puck into their zone but the replay showed the puck bounced off two Press. Either way it was a blown call.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Just got a feeling about the Hawks/Vancouver game tonight... A lot of people are already counting this as W #13.... Just don't like that it's win #13 and coming against Vancouver... At least 7uongo isn't starting tonight
