NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Sorry, but I don't know how anyone can give Cooke the benefit of the doubt. We see guys go into the boards like that all the time. We don't always see guys chop down with their skate at the other guy's leg. IMO, he knew it was Karlsson and knew exactly what he was doing.

Padded rooms on the left Greg :)

Mike Milbury just now "Don't know his true intent, but simply don't understand going in with your skate up there like a dog at a fire hydrant"

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

mookie, you're a Penguins fan.
And you're a Bruins fan still bitter about when he went head hunting on Savard...

If this is any player not named Matt Cooke/Raffi Torres/Jarko Ruutu/etc...everyone is talking about a bad break for Karlsson and the Sens, not the intent.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Nope, I'm not bitter about Marc Savard. Losing Savard hasn't hurt the Bruins. I just think it's stupid to give someone like Cooke the benefit of the doubt on that play when we never see any other guy do that.

Go into the boards with someone else off balance? Yeah, that never happens...

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

LOL, ya, because that's all that happened and that's what I was referring to.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

You can believe what you want to believe, I'm not gonna try to change your mind. All I will say is what Cooke ended up doing was not natural.

There's two opinions of people who are most likely much more knowledgable about hockey than you, I or 95% of the others on here. What he did WAS natural when trying to gain leverage on somebody bigger than him. If he truly wanted to injure Karlsson, why not go hit him from behind a few feet from the boards, or elbow to the back of the head?

Yes, it's Matt Cooke. Yes, he has a history. However, YES, he has straightened up in the past 2 years and has learned the correct way to play the game as an energy player. If you have ANY idea about hockey, you should be able to agree with that. I will agree he doesn't necessarily deserve "benefit of doubt," however he DOES deserve a fair look at things.

If it was, say, Vanek from the Sabres on that same exact play. What would you think? Vanek doesn't have a history of dirty play, so does it become a "normal hockey play" then? See how silly that argument is?

I'm not even a fan of either team, really couldn't care less about either. However, I can certainly see how that action could happen in that type of situation.

And I gave you what Mike Milbury said on sports radio today. He surely knows more about hockey than I do and he doesn't think it was natural. I watch a lot of games and you never see guys go in with their skate in the air like that. If it was natural and happened often, you'd see more injuries like this. Sorry.

Just because Matt Cooke cleaned up his game for a short period of time doesn't mean he deserves the benefit of the doubt for the much larger sample size of him playing like a dink.

Are you talking about the same Mike Milbury that I'm assuming you are? Because that guy is a moron.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Call him whatever you want. To the other guy's point, he still knows more about hockey than any of us.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

I'll even concede that we obviously don't know his true intent, just don't tell me what he did was natural.
