Can't wait for that playoff series..should be absolutely phenomenal.

Gotta love everyone's immediate instinct to go all out old time hockey.

The entire Eastern Conference playoff teams are hoping this goes all seven and is a physical series. Plus, one of the Eastern Favs will be eliminated.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

It would be OK with me if the Pens and Flyers just had a month long series and they gave the winner the Cup. Very entertaining. I find it harder to hate the Flyers this year, and Giroux is fantastic.
Not like I want either of them to win, but man would that be one fantastically entertaining series.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

I agree that hating Philly is harder because of how great Giroux is. That kid is the real deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that series, barring a miracle, is all but set is it not?

I'd be OK with this, provided the Rangers play the Bruins in a month-long Consolation Series with games played every night. (Though the Rags would win that one about 27-3).

I think the Rangers need 1 more point to guarantee the Penguins can't move up to the #1, but otherwise pretty much yes.

Along similar lines, the Devils still have a slim chance of finishing ahead of the Flyers.

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Gotta beat em all to be the best anyways.
You don't have to beat EVERY team in your conference to make it to the finals, just three of them. If you had had to choose a path that included Florida, the Rangers and Boston, or one that included Pittsburgh, the Rangers and Boston, which would you pick? (I have to figure that other results will make the Devils' preferences moot, though.)

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

So now Milbury has eaten his words about Crosby.

Hockey analyst Mike Milbury apologized Tuesday for critical comments made about Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.

Labeling Crosby "a punk," Milbury, the former NHL coach and general manager, criticized the Pittsburgh center on a Philadelphia radio station Monday. He called out Crosby for his role in instigating a game-ending line brawl in Sunday's contest between the Penguins and Flyers.

"I reached out to (Pittsburgh president) David Morehouse and the Penguins about the comments I made yesterday on Philadelphia radio," Milbury said. "In hindsight, I realize what I said was inappropriate and wrong, and I want to apologize to the Penguins organization and their fans."

Oh, and here's the other side

Crosby was asked about the remarks Tuesday after the team's morning skate for a game against Boston.

"You can twist something a certain way, and he’s obviously shown he’s more than capable of doing that," Crosby said, according to a tweet from Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Crosby was also unapologetic about his style of play.

"As far as me slashing someone, that’s hockey," he said. "I guess I’m not a gentleman out there on the ice sometimes, I’ll say that."

If you want to arrive at a correct solution to any issue regarding hockey, just take the opposite of whatever Milbury says.

The Minnesota Wild don't even know how to suck properly. They blow an great early season start to injuries and being awful, and suddenly they're one of the worst in the league. High draft pick, right? Well, now they've decided to actually play like they were in the beginning of the year, and I'm sure the Wild are going to try to make sure they pick outside of the top five. Again, secretly screwing the franchise over while Edmonton continues to stockpile young talent a la the Penguins seven years ago.

Joe Thornton fights Drew Doughty.....what?

Drew spent all day talking about how much he was looking forward to knocking the Sharks out of the playoff picture and not enough time keeping his guard up from getting knocked the * out.
