Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Owen Nolan will be (finally, officially) announcing his retirement in San Jose next Tuesday. Hoping they sign him to a one day contract and maybe let him do a pre-game skate before the game vs. Calgary on the 8th

Re: NHL 2012: The Chase for the Cup

Just watched the 1st period of the Hawks/Oilers game. Hawks absolutely dominated, and even lead 1-0. Should be an interesting last 2 periods since the final is going to be 8-4. :D

eta: Now 2-0 Hawks, less than a min into the 2nd.

Wow, had the Oilers done anything at all in the 1st period, Gagner could of tied Sitlers record of 10.

Was actually 3-3 after the 2nd on a SHG by the Hawks, and later in the 3rd was a 5-4 game.

Cool Budweiser ad that will debut during the Super Bowl.

Aren't all beer league games are like that??

El Gary is on NHL Live. The subject of the Nassau Mausoleum came up and it sounds like Gary and Garth are doing a duet in the media for the case to become the Brooklyn Americans.
With all due respect to the fans out on Long Island (all four of them), they'd have to be stupid not to push for this. You've got a brand new arena going up in a great location, pretty much right at a massive subway/LIRR hub. Why wouldn't you want a team there? Of course, now there will just be even MORE Rangers fans at Rangers-Islanders(/Amerks) games.
Nobody north of Hartford or South of Trenton NJ cares
Philadelphia is south of Trenton, so I'm going to have to say that you're wrong there.

There's one problem. The design of the arena allows for only 14500 seats for hockey.

I don't think the league would have an issue with that. It's the exposure they want, not necessarily the extra 6,000 at the game. I would think though that Prokhorov would want to own at least part of the team, which might be an issue.
