On one hand, the Flyers' defense around the net collapsed in that third period. On the other hand, when you only put 20 average shots on goal, even fat, 40 year-old Brodeur is going to save most of them.

So my fiancee and I are planning our wedding in Ithaca next year; is it wrong that I'm completely ready to pick this one photographer based on the fact that he did Dustin Brown's wedding?
I've been looking at a lot of photographers lately myself (for obvious reasons). Looks like he does nice work (in addition to his association). Are you getting married at Lynah?

LOL, no. Plain old chapel/hotel ballroom wedding for us. :p

If the word night shows up in the vows, please tell the Cornellians to not yell suck immediately afterwards like they do with the national anthem. :D (Just kidding. Congrats on your impending nuptials.)

And for dessert, yellow wedding cak without or without splooge!

Also, any broccoli not eaten at the rehearsal dinner should be served during the reception and then at the following morning's brunch, as it slowly loses it green color each time.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

I was reading a few columns today about how much the game has become defense-centric in the playoffs and in the comments section suggested that the referees are reluctant to call penalties on borderline penalties, thus leading to the clutching and grabbing and slowing down the game.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 5/1, old KRACH) most likely outcomes are:

West: LAK in 5 (20.0%), PHX in 5 (23.5%)
East: NYR in 6 (26.0%), PHI in 6 (24.1%)

Overall winning probabilities:
West
STL 31.6% - LAK 68.4%
PHX 77.5% - NSH 22.5%

East
NYR 68.5% - WAS 31.5%
PHI 63.4% - NJD 36.6%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

Next Round possibilities:
Code:
-------------------------
|WEST | HOME |
|CONF.|-----------------|
|FINAL| STL | PHX | NSH |
|-----------------------|
|A|PHX|24.5%|XXXXX|XXXXX|
|W|---|-----------------|
|A|NSH|7.12%|XXXXX|XXXXX|
|Y|---|-----------------|
| |LAK|XXXXX|53.0%|15.4%|
-------------------------

-------------------------
|EAST | HOME |
|CONF.|-----------------|
|FINAL| NYR | PHI | NJD |
|-----------------------|
|A|PHI|43.5%|XXXXX|XXXXX|
|W|---|-----------------|
|A|NJD|25.1%|XXXXX|XXXXX|
|Y|---|-----------------|
| |WAS|XXXXX|20.0%|11.5%|

And by allowing this, they're hoping to negate some of the speed post-lockout that led to so many of the concussions. It just makes about half the NHL games unwatchable each night.
