Even for the many people who hate both of these teams, I think you have to admit that this would be the most entertaining series of the four options we have.

Yep. This should would be highly entertaining. Especially after 24/7 and the Winter Classic.

It would have been a lot more fun in 1978. Nothing like the #3 goalies pairing off.


What's left of the NHL makes me a Ranger fan for the next two months.

Statistics! is leading and I'm tied for 2nd with REDaero. When I get the chance, I'll look at what made everyone else suck so much :p

The ultimate beat down and not one Ranger came to his aide. I was watching on TV and could not believe it.

So this game has to end at least 3-2. That's practically a blowout from what predictions for this series were.

Just noticed on NBC that we have a perfect 1-8 seeds in the second round.

3. Phoenix

5. Philadelphia

Has that ever happened before?

They're terrible, or the best at the rope-a-dope ever.

Totally dominated, just like the last series, yet win.

Their "fans" sure seem to be enjoying it though.

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 4/27, old KRACH) most likely outcomes are:

West: STL in 5 (22.0%), NSH in 7 (18.7%)
East: NYR in 5 (21.2%), PHI in 6 (19.2%)

Overall winning probabilities:
West
STL 73.8% - LAK 26.2%
PHX 55.2% - NSH 44.8%

East
NYR 72.1% - WAS 27.9%
PHI 63.7% - NJD 36.2%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.
