Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

Is this Fox Sports DC? I'm confused by all the cheerleading these guys are doing.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

Was pretty boring up until NY killed that sequence of penalties that included the 5x3. Should be a good third.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

Even strength shots on goal are 7-6 Rangers. 13 shots in two periods?!?!COMBINED?!?!

This is quickly approaching the 95 Devils...

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

I always felt that the 2003 playoffs were actually the worst example of trap/clutch and grab hockey ever, honestly, not 1995.

I just remember during one of the Anaheim-NJ finals games that they had a stat where there had been so few lead changes in the entire playoffs that you could count them on two hands. If you waited to see who scored first, you could go to bed and be correct on the winning team 85% of the time.

Bad Sasha!!!! Semin demoted to 4th line in today's practice.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Pick Your Overtime Winners!

Based on Bradley-Terry rankings (i.e., KRACH) found here, the updated (after 4/28) most likely outcomes are:

West: STL in 6 (20.8%), NSH in 7 (18.0%)
East: NYR in 5 (26.8%), PHI in 6 (19.2%)

Overall winning probabilities:
West
STL 54.6% - LAK 45.4%
PHX 57.8% - NSH 42.2%

East
NYR 84.0% - WAS 16.0%
PHI 63.7% - NJD 36.3%

As always, KRACH is not a perfect predictive system. In fact, it's not predictive at all; it's retrodictive. Home-ice advantage, momentum, and the like can not be accounted for reliably, so they are ignored.

Remarks: Stupid effing Kings. Should've been a major... Anyway, it finally happened! Nashville has the most likely winning scenario, but Phoenix is more likely to win the series.

Next Round possibilities:
Code:

Does NHL.com seem to choke for anyone else right around this time of year? Is the traffic & content increase compared to the regular season really that huge?
