Well, the Yotes have had a nice run, but the Kings are just a better/hotter team right now. Plain and simple. Sometimes you just run up against a better team and absent some breaks, you aren't likely to win.

Ideally this should've done in the 1980's with the Canada Cup but it wasn't. Now, if everybody came together, we could have something that would work, have a World Cup in September in the non-Olympic even numbered years, the Olympics, and then have a European Championship in the odd years. But if we continue to act like 5 year olds then it's not gonna happen.

I really liked the World Cup in 1996. Was a great tourney even before we won it in such dramatic fashion.

I think they did the World Cup one more time maybe and that was that. Too bad...

We had a good run this year, but it was hard to really care and this coming from someone who typically LOVES international hockey.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

I'll be curious to see how they do against the winner of the eastern conference. The rangers defensive play seems to be costing them physically these days. If they get by NJ, im not sure they'll have enough in the tank to deal with the kings especially considering they are having trouble scoring 5X5.
On the one hand... gosh, the Kings are really freaking hot right now. On the other hand, optimistically speaking, I think it's in the Rangers' nature to make a series against anyone closer than it should be, so if they beat the Devils (which is certainly no sure thing), I think they'll at least make the Kings work for it more than everyone else has. Lundqvist HAS been almost as good as Quick so far in the playoffs, and obviously a goalie can be a big equalizer too.

Or, they'll have six guys break bones blocking shots over the next three games and nobody will be left and they'll lose in five.

Finally watched the Summitt Series Documentary on NBC Sports Network.

Awesome.

Does anyone really still believe a Canadian when they feign ignorance on how intentional it was for Bobby Clarke was to goon Kharlamov out of the series. Right down to Esposito calling it a "part of the game". I can't believe that jerk is still celebrated today. The guy was a talented Matt Cooke.

Yeah that was pretty low.

Per the NHL Network: the two teams in the "modern era" that have started the playoffs with three different 3-0 leads in successive series lost the Stanley Cup final. The 2012 Kings have joined the 1995 Red Wings and 2008 Penguins as teams that have jumped out to 3-0 leads in the first three series they've played. In 1968 and again in 1976 the Montreal Canadiens had three straight 3-0 leads and won the Stanley Cup, but back then the playoffs were only 3 rounds.

No argument from this Canadian. I have never been a Clarke fan or a fan of what he did, but if you look at what he did in the context of the era of Communism vs the free world and what the series meant to both countries it explains (to a small degree) the "win at all costs" attitude.

How was that not a major on Prust for the elbow to Kovi's noggin? Not even a minor???

Prust is gone for a game or 2.

Good thing the Rangers have the best goalie in the league or this would be very ugly.

Brodeur just robs Callahan in almost an exact replica of save on Staal in Game 1

According to NHL.com, Dustin Brown has the Kings up 1-0 about 2 minutes into the game.

According to Reality, it's 0-0 14+ minutes into the game (or now 1-0 Coyotes).

I saw that score and was confused-wasn't paying close attention but I'm pretty sure I would have heard a goal horn...

It's now really 1-0 Coyotes on a Shane Doan PPG on something that probably shouldn't have been a penalty...not complaining though!

Is that Eric Cartman yelling "Go Kings Go!" on the PA at Staples Center?
