NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Dustin Brown takes out a Coyotes player with a dirty knee. Ref looks the other way and then the Kings score. Not the first dirty play by Brown in OT that the refs looked the other way on. A shame to end a great game that way. Brown should be seeing a suspension if there's any justice.

Which game were you watching?

Brown has been cheapshotting the entire series, as well as flopping. Bush league player. Not the worst knee-on-knee I've ever seen, but still pretty ugly. Haven't heard how badly Rozsival is hurt, but it didn't look good the way he went off the ice.

LA was clearly the better team in this series, with no obvious weaknesses and a lot more talent. That was obvious from game one. How the Yotes won the division over LA is quite interesting. So, no surprise they won the series, and deservedly so. Such is life with a team like Phoenix on a limited budget.

Mike Smith has been cheapshotting the entire series, as well as flopping. Bush league player. Not the worst slash to the back of a knee I've ever seen, but still pretty ugly. Haven't heard how badly Brown is hurt, but it didn't look good the way he went down to the ice.
.

Game 2 anyone?

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

fyp. You mean where Dustin Brown pokes at the puck and Smith swipes his hand to his left, losing his glove? Then whining to the ref because Smith doesn't know the rules?

I really wish I had more of a dog in these playoffs. I'm kinda sad I don't get to be an over-the-top, blind to the facts, die-hard <del>whiner</del> fan.

No, you're just a plain whiner.

People are defending Dustin Brown? Good lord. The "man" is a sniveling, diving, wretch and it will be a sad moment in NHL history when he gets to lift the Stanley Cup in two weeks.

And we don't usually agree on things! :)

I think I mentioned upthread, my fiancee and I are planning our wedding in Ithaca (i.e. Brown's hometown), and he keeps popping up in testimonials on vendors' websites. He seems like a nice enough guy in his wedding pictures!

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

The contact from Brown was both shoulder and leg. Replays showed his left leg split the guys leg, not knee on knee.

He hit him in the thigh. He either went off with a bad charlie horse or a dislocated hip.
Agree with these observations. But this doesn't mean it was a clean play. It's not in the same category as knee on knee, but it was still a cheap shot, IMHO.

There's major disagreement as to whether the collision was avoidable, as per the vehement exchange between Milbury and Roenick on the postgame show. My take is that while some contact may have been inevitable, the hit on the thigh could have been avoided.

Don't we all! And a big congatulations on the impending nuptials! Went through that a few years ago. It was great, but we were so glad when it was over and we could enjoy normal life. Hope is all goes well.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

Oh, and another little nuance on the Brown hit on Rozsival, it occurred after the whistle. Not sure how long after.

But, don't expect anything from Shanahan. Apparently he's only handed out one suspension all season for any sort of kneeing incident, so apparently the league isn't that worried about kneeing infractions.

Re: NHL 2012: Playoffs! Part II: Boogalooing all the way to the Cup

That was an awful ending to the Coyotes' season. So much anger for one handshake line.

Not the first time for that.

Same one Mike Smith and Mike Milburry were apparently.

I thought Milbury and JR were going to drop the gloves on the post game show!

*cough*

Where in the rulebook does it say that if a goalie loses their glove play is supposed to stop? Dustin Brown didn't rip his glove off after Smith froze the puck. Smith was TRYING to freeze the puck when Brown poked the puck away and took Smith's glove with it. Nothing dirty about it.

I'm glad the Coyotes are out. No more listening to that damm howling every time they score or go on the power play. No more listening to "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon and screaming at the TV that werewolves and coyotes aren't the same thing. And no more looking at Wile E. Coyote on Smith's mask. In case he didn't watch the cartoons as a child, someone ought to tell him the Coyote ends up falling off a cliff and blowing himself to kingdom come every episode. He should wear a mask with the Road Runner on it.

You just have issues with all things Arizona, eh? Rarely do the Coyotes get enough notice for anyone to have developed such a dislike for them as you've managed.
