NFL 2022-23: How About A Lions vs. Jaguars Super Bowl?

I don't remember seeing an NFL team battle the play clock more than Miami has today. New QB and all, but especially in that situation where the obvious call is a QB sneak, how are you still subbing people off with 13 left on the clock and then setting up a play out of the shotgun?

Very- delayed the next game by 20 min so far.

And it's frustrating to see teams dig themselves holes from just dumb things. Miami could not get plays in fast enough, and they paid for it- their play was good enough, and the play calls were good, but the actual calling and how very long it took just killed them. Kinda sad.

That was a weird game- at times, both teams worked hard to keep the other team in it, and then both teams played really hard to win it. At the end, I think Miami lost the game- or at least they gave away their chance to win it. Too bad, but good for Buffalo- they made it count more.

That would have been an epic game in 1978. With the networks, review, and league, they somehow ruined it.

As a NY'er, let's go Vikes.

The appropriate cities to go deep into the NFL post-season are, in perpetuity, and in order:

1. Dallas (heel)
2. Pittsburgh (heel)
3. Oakland (heel)
4. Miami (face)
5. Minnesota (face)
6. Cleveland (face)
7. Green Bay (heel)
8. New York (face)

None of the other cities in the NFL even exist, including my boo Seattle.

So shooting yourself in the foot in 1978 was ok? That's what I saw happening. Both teams tried, but Miami made sure they gave up their chance to win at the end. That's the part I didn't like.

If Miami lost from good D, fine. But the penalties from taking too long calling plays was brutal and it's really frustrating. For once, it was really easy to blame the coaches- since all that is driven by them.

I use the Tecmo Bowl list:

AFC:
Los Angeles (Raiders)
Indianapolis
Miami
Denver
Seattle
Cleveland

NFC:
Washington
San Francisco
Dallas
New York (Giants)
Chicago
Minnesota

As a Jets fan, wouldn't you be rooting against the Giants anyway?

If I could, yes I would, reduce the NFL thusly:

AFC:

Oakland Raiders
Pittsburgh Steelers
Miami Dolphins
Baltimore Colts
Denver Broncos
Cleveland Browns

NFC:

Dallas Cowboys
Washington Redskins
Minnesota Vikings
New York Giants
Green Bay Packers
Detroit Lions

Nope, I don't care about intracity rivalries. As a Jets fan I am fine with the Giants. As an Islanders fan I actively root for the Rangers. As a Mets fan I don't even acknowledge the existence of the Yankees as a MLB franchise as they are in a league that is double A at best. I love several NYS teams (Cornell), but I hate New Yorkers as a failed, whiney, extraordinarily physically unattractive demographic.

You hafta remember I left NY state 40 years ago and look forward to its complete obliteration by a giant meteor, as long as my teams are on the road.

Mom can take her chances. She made her choices. Sorry Mom, but Jesus f-ck hon, these are awful people, GET OUT!

Why didn't Cousins throw the ball NEAR the line to gain?

Still, better that the Vikings had their shot as opposed to penalties stopping them.

So NFC has Giants/Eagles (NFC East rivalry) and either Niners/Cowboys (classic playoff matchup) or Niners/Bucs (Brady back home and Brady/Purdy age/experience contrast).

And the Minnesota Vikings finish 13-5 with a point differential of -10.

Minnesota greatly overachieved in an awful division. They are probably the favorites to win the NFC North again next year. Chicago is probably another year away (although, they have the resources (both draft picks and salary cap) to make a big turnaround). Green Bay is a bit of a wild card, but I think Rodgers is washed (assuming he comes back). Detroit...well, the Lions are not allowed to have nice things, so the Vikings might win the division again by default. Minnesota's defense can't get any worse.
