NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

I’m digging the AAF broadcast. I love that they let you listen in on the radios for the play calls and refs.

I also really like that they don’t have commercial breaks during play. The lack of kickoffs is fantastic and their OT rules are perfect. I like how they’re handling concussions.

I don’t like a few things but they’re minor.

I think I like Sand Diego based entirely on logo, name (especially given the city), colors, and uniforms.

Its the 1st game, but at least they dont look like total scrubs playing.

ATL purple unis are nice. I like purple though. So maybe I'm biased.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Riddell must be happy, they get their name plastered all over the helmets again.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

The best part is the uniforms are made by S⭐

I know they went out of business abruptly, was that cause the NFL screwed them?

Screwed me, cause I couldn't get a 1999 NCAA champs shirt after the tourney, cause they were the ones licensed for them, and they went belly-up like that week.

Late to the party here -- but that's why tcbg and I put up with the commute from NH even though he works in Lexington and I work in Burlington. Avg Housing price in Lexington is: $1,003,800; and in Burlington it is $575,300 (per Zillow). We have 1100sqft townhouse with a lofted 3rd floor, gas fireplace, 1 car shared garage for about half of what it would cost to live in Burlington. The downside is that I work nights and still have a 50 minute commute and tcbg has to leave no later than 0530 to get to work in under 60 minutes (if he leaves later, it can take up to 120 minutes).

.

Curious if you'd have an easier commute from say Worcester or something like that. However, is this a good time for Rover to pat himself on the back for buying in a town next door to Lexington a dozen or so years ago? Every time I check Zillow the place has gone up 20K from the time before!

Let's see...made money in real estate + obnoxious a sshole = Rover For President!!! Will select mookie as VP in order get the banging porn stars criteria checked off. ;)

Moving on, hadn't realized Pats have 12 draft picks including 6 in the first 3 rounds. Assuming Brady plays until he's 50 they'd better find the next Gronk at TE and a burner at WR. Wouldn't mind another kicker as well to challenge the current one.

My Iron get a dominant shutout win behind a powerful Trent Richardson performance. Helped Memphis had Hackenburg at QB.

Deciding between the San Diego Fleet and the Salt Lake Stallions.

SD has the Detroit "affiliation" and seems to be the premier meme team. I like the Navy (well, battleship) motif too. Plus fark you Spanos (c) UrinatingTree.

Salt Lake has the Colorado regional "affiliations" and...ponies.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

That blindside hit on Bercovici in the SD/SA game...

Clay Matthews wants to know your location.

Maybe the AAf is the new minor league? Where kids not interested in college go??? Dunno
The NFL needs a development league that isn't college. Pay the players already.

And most units don't have private laundry. Some do include heat and hot water.

Prices have roughly plateaued and are likely to come down (according to my realtor buddy) over the next year or two. I'll be moving this year, but definitely looking at a variety of areas that aren't inside 95.

Take a look at the South Shore, Weymouth, Holbrook, Abington.

The ideal scenario would be:

AAF - true minor league, spot for NFL squads to stick roster cuts and unsigned/undrafted FAs and get them playing time.
XFL - developmental league, spot for high school graduates who want an alternative to college that pays now, with promotion potential to AAF/NFL.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

Those leagues would need some serious cash behind hem. The NCAA schools are collectively a ten billion-plus organization and they aren’t going to let someone else come in and scoop that cash without a major fight.

That being said, I agree. I’d like to see the NCAA not be the development league.

Imagine for a second that SCOTUS somehow ruled nobody -- networks, advertisers, the schools themselves -- could derive any revenue from collegiate sports. What would happen with colleges and universities? Diploma mills persist without a sports connection, so we wouldn't necessarily see a huge fall off in the number of schools or enrollments.

Re: NFL 2019: Superb Owl and Offseason

I mean, we still need schools and all. The environment and financials might change things a little in a few places, but mostly things would continue on as always. We already have many more schools where sports are very minor then the 60-70 or so powerhouses where they somewhat significantly impact operations.
