NFL 2019-20: The Patriots Are A Terrible 11-3 Team!

The Los Angeles Rams have played 24 road playoff games in their history. They have 9 wins in those games. The team with the most road playoff victories in NFL history? Green Bay Packers with 11.

FWIW, Minnesota has the record for most road playoff losses with 19. : - )

Rodgers has almost half those wins. Under the McCarthy/Rodgers combo, 10/16 playoff games were on the road and they went .500 in those. This will actually be the first conference championship Rodgers has played at home.

Rodgers is 4-6 in road playoff games, with three of those wins coming in 2010.

As for NFC Championship Games, Rodgers was on the 2007 Packers squad that lost at home in the NFC Championship game...but was the backup and did not play.

Next weekend, Green Bay will play in its 9th NFC Championship game...tied with Minnesota for the 4th most. For those wondering, San Francisco and Pittsburgh have played in the most conference title games (16), although New England has the most victories (11 - Dallas has the most NFC Championship game victories, at 8). The Giants (5-0) and Bengals (2-0) are the only two teams to be undefeated. The Seahawks are undefeated in NFC Championship games (3-0), and are also the only team to have played in both the AFC and NFC Championship games. They lost the '83 AFC Championship to the Raiders 30-14, after beating the Raiders twice in the regular season.

The Houston Texans are the only team to never appear in its conference championship game.

Baker Mayfield is dragging Cleveland into a competitive game. I don’t think it’s going to be enough though.

Probably an unpopular opinion but, the "fumble out of the end zone results in a touchback" rule is one of the dumbest in all of sports. It's like a slap shot being deflected out of the rink by the goalie resulting in a delay of game penalty on you.

Yeah, it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. A fumble out-of-bounds does not normally result in the other team gaining possession (not to mention 20 yards up field from where the ball when out of bounds), only when it is out of the end zone. They could easily change it to giving the ball to the fumbling team at: (a) the spot of the fumble; or (b) a set spot, such as the 1- or 2-yard line. (a) would align with how fumbles work at the end of the game (i.e. fumbling team can't advance and ball is returned to the spot of the fumble), so that is probably the option I would go with.

I would think placing at the spot of the fumble would be the easiest solution.

I think they reaaaaally want to discourage attempting to fumble into the endzone, so make sure you cross that line with the ball super-duper-secure.

that penalty was HUGE. I was thinking that before the INT- as it would have have made the FG much harder. But it also made the play call, well, not sure why they did that. While 8 points can be scored at once, it's also a lot harder than 7, generally. Well, then again, seeing the Browns convert those 4th downs, and the run game is eating up 5 yards at a time....

Going for it on 4th down from your own 29 with more than 6 minutes to go... you morally deserve to win.
