Re: NFL 2014-15: Iron Fist Getting Rusty?
This.
I'd rather we not get a SB and skip the roof, but investors don't care about the fans.

It's all about money. And remember you're not really making money in corporate America today if you're not getting huge sums of money from the government coffers.
Enjoying the Schadenfreude are you??![]()
But doesn't the Super Bowl actually lose money for the city?
They don't.Why would the Vikings care if the City of Mpls loses money?
All non-league sponsored or affiliated economic analyses ever performed (be it MLB, NFL, NBA or NHL) show that building a stadium is a net loss to the gov't entity funding it with public money if that funding exceeds something like 25%. That doesn't stop gov'ts from paying for them because we're too emotionally attached to sports in this country. And then people want the Super Bowl because it creates some sort of a chest thumping thing to say you've done it and done it well. Unless it's hosted in norther New Jersey, then none of the locals care. But doesn't the Super Bowl actually lose money for the city?

We know how this is going to play out. The NFL is going to issue an apology stating that he won't be fined, shouldn't have been penalized, and the referee was unaware that he was praying. Meanwhile, the I have to be outraged about something crowd will use this as another example of the immoral NFL and want the bigoted ref fired because racism, while the far right will want him to be cut and deported to Gitmo because he's obviously a terrorist.

The NFL takes another hit: the "sports blackout rule" has been ended by the FCC.
