I loved Gordon's statement about "being disappointed in the judgement and discretion of the NFL" on his appeal. How about judgement and discretion about the sticky-icky, Mr Gordon? Dumbass.

NFL to introduce new rules on domestic violence

1st offense = 6 games
2nd offense = lifetime ban

It's the preseason. As any Lions fans will tell you, Detroit went 4-0 in the 2008 preseason, only to follow it up with an 0-16 regular season.

Their first-string got blanked by the second string. At least I've got the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga and other stuff to watch.

Except they really didn't do much. The first offense is 6 games...with a consideration given to mitigating circumstances, which means it can be longer or shorter at Goodell's discretion. The player can also be reinstated after a 2nd offense after 1 year.

It's better than what it was...but, it's mostly smoke and mirrors.

And there is plenty of wiggle room on what denotes domestic violence and what doesn't.

This is an incredibly toothless rule. They do get points for trying though, and for being the first major sport to address this. Also, for a program of education at the college and high school level.
