Re: NFL 2010: Now Extended By Two More Posts

ESPN continues to prove it's awesomeness. When showing graphics of QB's with most TD's they had a picture of Chad Henne for Dan Marino. An easy mistake to make given Marino was #13 and Henne is #7. It's such a small difference, it's easy to see why no one noticed it.

Great catch Dirty. I wasn't paying close enough attention to notice it at the time, but now that you mention it you brought up a subconscious memory of it.

NFLN tackles Nos. 31-40 tonight on the Top 100 NFL's Greatest Players.

O.J. Simpson checks in at No. 40. Chuck Klosterman opines.

I loved the point Drew Magary made today on Deadspin about the Favre play that got called back on Monday night. How could Childress spend a whole week scheming up and practicing a play that was illegal? I mean, whatever you think of the rule itself, why in the heck wouldn't you check with the rulebook first to make sure the play was okay?

You're assuming that the play was drawn up by Childress and not something that Favre dreamed up. You're also assuming that Favre didn't mess up and go under center (and be illegally downfield) as opposed to stay in shotgun (where he would have been fine).

Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Childress had no idea. Fortunately for the Vikings, Green Bay is going down the tubes and Chicago has no O-line. If, and that's an enormous if, Minnesota can right the ship this week, they'll have a very good chance at winning the division. IMO, the Vikings will finish either 5-11 or 11-5...this week has a lot to do with that.

Well, with ARodg playing this week, I'd say the same about GB right now. Boom or bust. If AR is fine, then GB still has a solid shot. If he does the one-and-done (done for a bit, anyway) GB is really on the ropes. Concussions are tricky, as we are now seeing, and personally I think he's coming back too soon.

The Bears just might luckbox themselves into a division title. Nevermind they are using reverse implied donkey odds, they might just hit that river and sail away.

The thing with Green Bay is that Finley was such an important part of their offense, and that importance was only magnified when Grant went down for the season. Green Bay still has a lot of talent, but such important cogs of their team are out. If they finish above .500 I'll be surprised. Next year, they'll be hyped up again though.

Chicago has a good enough defense to win 10-11 games and win the division if Cutler stays healthy. If Cutler goes down again, they are going to be in trouble.

You don't believe in Caleb Hanie?! :D

Important cogs are missing in GB, but jeez, they still have enought talent to beat Chi/Det* and maybe MN (if MN keeps playing the way they are playing).

No matter what, the division is weak.

Agreed. I was thinking that this division was going to be a power at the beginning of the season...and now 10-6 might walk away with the division. Fortunately the NFC is terrible and 10-6 could realistically get a first round bye.

What is more amazing though, is that Jay Cutler's QB rating is STILL above 100...even after the NYG debacle. Hopefully the Bears O-Line can learn to block and Cutler releases the ball quicker.

Caleb Hanie > Todd Collins

Getting sacked doesn't hurt the QB Rating I don't believe.

The Bears O-line is coached by Mike Tice. He did a great job with the Vikings O-line back in the late-90s, but hasn't done much since. I wouldn't have too much faith in the Chicago Bears, but they just might be the best of a mediocre bunch.

Re: NFL 2010: Now Extended By Two More Posts

QB Rating is the most worthless stat ever.

Just one example, without really going into the ratings for a career:

Daunte Culpepper is apparently a better QB (according to the ratings) than:

Favre, Marino, Kelly, Staubauch, Dawson, Starr, Fouts, Elway, Unitas and Graham. That's for starters. The most obscene thing I noticed, is that Elway is only 0.3 points better than Elvis Grbac. Think about that.

It is Sunday, right? What is this thread doing on page two?

Re: NFL 2010: Now Extended By Two More Posts

Meh... The NFL is boring this year... Good teams are bad. Bad teams are mediocre. Everyone is injured.
