Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I don't think it's a big deal, it's in his personal life, but they were awefully dumb to post them on youtube. Youtube isn't some underground website no one knows about. One has to weigh the risk/reward for posting it. I don't see any upside for posting it and lots of downside, but his wife obviously doesn't mind and probably enjoys watching the view count go up on her videos.

Re: NFL 2010: $25K Fine For Talking About Fines

I know a lot of you don't care about fantasy football, but this is for money so I'm going to ask for some advice here anyway. :)

QB: Vick at home with a chance to clinch a division title. Done.
RB: Mendenhall at home vs. the Panthers. Done.
WR1 and WR2: Calvin Johnson is great, but... in Miami with Drew Stanton throwing to him? Brandon Lloyd is great, but... Tebow? Sidney Rice or Percy Harvin have the best matchup, in Philly so the Vikes figure to throw a lot, but their QB situation is the most screwed up of all. TO is done for the year. Free agent options include Steve Breaston (vs. Dal), Mike Sims-Walker (vs. Was), Kenny Britt (@ KC), Roy Williams (@ Ari), Danny Amendola (vs. SF).
RB/WR Flex: Jamaal Charles at home vs. the Titans seems like a good bet, but their run defense is pretty solid. Certainly not going with Chris Ivory. Best FA options seem to be Ricky Williams vs. the Lions, Donald Brown in Oakland, or Tashard Choice in Arizona. Or one of my WRs.
TE: No idea whether to expect Gates to play, but I'm not optimistic. Aaron Hernandez is good but if the Patriots are ever going to try to run the ball it'll be against the Bills, plus Gronkowski is stealing a lot of his targets. Best FA options are Tony Moeaki vs. the Titans and Heath Miller vs. the Panthers.
K: Josh Scobee vs. the Redskins is good enough.
Def: Carrying Tampa (vs. the Seahawks, pretty good matchup) and Atlanta (vs. the Saints, pretty bad matchup even in Atlanta). Could pickup Jacksonville (vs. the Redskins is a good matchup, but they've been awful at generating turnovers this year) or Miami (vs. the Lions is also a good matchup and they're a great yardage defense, but also bad at generating turnovers). Tampa seems like my best bet.

Oh, and this league limits transactions to two per week. TO and Atlanta D (or Ivory) are easy choices for drops that won't come back to bite me, but I need to be judicious with my adds because of that.

i think adding britt for TO is a no brainer. houston is a pretty bad pass defense, so he wont duplicate last week's numbers; but he gets a ton of targets from Kerry Collins. So I even think its probably a good idea to start him over the vikes guys (how can you possibly trust webb's arm)

Can someone TL;DR this in a SFW format, I don't want to read the link at work.

Really not a whole ton in it. Just basically saying that the Jets have basically acknowledged it is in fact Rex, by saying it's a personal matter.

There's nothing NSFW in that link. It's to profootballtalk.com. In the article is the link to Deadspin. It just gives more info about the story.

Brandon Lloyd (vs Hou); Kenny Britt (@ KC); Pierre Garcon (@ Oak); Larry Fitzgerald (vs Dal)...pick 2?
Darren McFadden (vs Ind) or BenJarvus Green-Ellis (@ Buf)?

Run DMC for sure.

I'd prob go Lloyd and Garcon, with Britt a close second (instead of Lloyd).

Yeah, I like that idea. Probably will still go with Johnson and Lloyd (who got targeted a lot by Jesus Tebow last weekend), but you're probably right about going with Britt over Rice. Saving my other add for an emergency; I think Hernandez is better than my FA TE options, if Gates doesn't play (which it seems like he won't).

Shirtless, I agree with Brent, definitely McFadden.

Dear Steelers,

Please run the ball down the Panthers' throats tonight. Mendenhall is awesome, and YOU ARE THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS for the love of God. My fantasy team (and my wallet) would really appreciate 100 yards and 2 TDs for #34.

Thanks,
jmh

An MCL sprain is nothing to scoff at. But for comparison, a friend tells me this story from Iraq, circa 2006:

During a firefight a Marine was caught in No Man's Land and had a "twinge" in his knee. Because his unit was still under fire, he could not be evaced. He stayed out for almost a full day before the enemy was chased out of their position by a chopper. He made it back to his unit but said he was OK to go on patrol again that night. His pack is upwards of 75 lbs, not to mention the weapon he was carrying. He lugged that thing around for more than five miles while out that night. When he returned his commander ordered him to the First Aid station to be checked out. Turns out that "twinge" was a partial tear of his ACL. He spent a month in Kuwait before rejoining his unit. Personally, I think he deserves a medal, but he assures me (no doubt with a severe case of humble-itis) that his behavior is typical of his fellow Marines. So when I hear that an athlete that makes six (or seven, eight or even nine) figures can't play because of an injury, I'm reminded of that story and it puts things into perspective nicely.

If a Marine can tear his ACL, carry around 75+ pounds over the course of two days with no medication while guys are shooting bullets at him; NFL prettyboys making at least 10X his salary can suck it up and play.
