NFL 2009 Thread #2

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

I got effed by Peyton Manning. Hard.

I was the 1 seed, playing the 4. I thought I was doing pretty well after Thursday's game, when Jones-Drew went off for 24 points...until I looked online and saw that I was already down 30 points because my opponent had Manning and Dallas Clark. I ended up getting it close, but in the end I lost 108-104.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

I was the top seed by three games but lost to the 8 seed (whose record was 8 games worse) yesterday and was eliminated. Winning the Championship will be worth $120-$130 dollars depending on how many transactions are made over the last two weeks. That would have been a nice chunk of change to win but regardless of how well you do in the regular season the playoffs are a crap shoot (single elimination). Oh well.

The commish of one of my Yahoo leagues didn't have a consolation playoffs for those of us who weren't in the top 8. So I dropped Steve Smith (the good one) and he was promptly picked up by the #8 seed for the playoffs. It was nice to see the #1 seed knocked off thanks to my dropped player... :)

Drew Brees is apparently not a good name around the ESPN leagues. He goes all year putting up big numbers, and then lays an egg in the playoffs.

That's a really dick move to drop your players.

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

CBS effed up the seedings in my league. It's set up like baseball with 3 division winners and a wild card. According to the rules, #1 division winner plays wild card, and the second and third place division winners play eachother. Only problem is, the bracket looks like this:

Semi-final 1:
2. Me, (9-5) division winner VS. 1. My opponent (13-1), division winner

3. 3rd division winner (8-6), division winner VS. 4. Wildcard (9-5), 2nd in my division.

I've still got a chance though. I'm down 105-93 with Santana Moss and Hakeem Nicks left to play tonight. Aaron Rodgers kept me in it with 43 yesterday.

I haven't been too happy with CBS fantasy football. There is zero customization unless you want to pay to play in a league. They are the only place with free college fantasy, and they said they were voted #1 in pro fantasy. I have no idea who could have voted for them, as Yahoo blows CBS out of the water.

How about we talk about the playoff race instead of everyones fantasy football standings? ;)

I once considered asking if we could move the Fantasy talk to a separate thread, but then I realized that there would hardly be any of us left. I'd basically be posting TV distribution maps every week for 3-4 people. :D

Re: NFL 2009 Thread #2

No, they'll have the first weekend of the playoffs off.

I'm saving time and just throwing the Pats and Bungles in the mix. Is there anyone that isn't looking forward to a Colts/Chargers AFC Championchip Game?
Outside of Pittsburgh...

PLAYOFFS PLAYOFFS ARE WE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS? ;) :D

Who cares about the NFL playoffs? The real importance is fantasy football. Who really cares who wins the games? Just as long as the correct players are having good games. :p

In all seriousness, I would take a Vikings win over a fantasy win.

It's just fun to talk about fantasy football and pretend like I actually know how to manage a team(s). I'm sure any day now a NFL team will hear about my stellar record and offer me a boat full of money to be their GM. :D

Are you sure you want to be talking about the Vikings and boats in the same post? ;)

Hey what's wrong with having fun on a boat? If the boat is a rocking don't come a knocking. I was tempted to call the company in charge of the boat cruise and ask for the same cruise the Vikings received.

stillers need all the favorites to win this week involving 7-7 & 8-6 afc teams... then beat miami in week 17 and sit and hope either the broncos lose to kc, or the ravens lose to oak.
