I didn't make the game due to studying. What was the attendance like? Sounded loud on the radio.

I do NOT like the new USCHO.
In other news, it appears as if Calumet is getting a JV hockey team. From the Gazette's article about yesterday's school board meeting, "approved establishing a junior varsity hockey team this year with the understanding it will be self-supporting".
Sweet.

That is how almost all the JV teams are in metro Detroit. What is the norm in Minnesota, anyone know?

Almost all schools have a JV team and they are supported by the high school along with the varsity. Games are back to back, and the two teams travel together. The smaller schools have kids playing on both with a maximum playing time per night of 4 non-consecutive periods.

Listening to the game, ( I only heard part of it) it sounded like we just basically stopped skating in the second.
I like the come back, I like to pp, and I like the penalty kill.

I also like how many of the new defensemen are working out and playing well. Different than last year.
The offense too seems so much different than last year, it's hard to believe it's the same team.
Overall a lot to cheer about. Definitely will come up for a game before christmas, and I'm digging around for company to go to omaha as well.

I have come to a conclusion.

If the it was the same person who decided that "The Institution" was a good idea, that thought that printing shirts that read "I AM HUSKY" was a good idea, that person needs to be fired and never work anywhere again.

On a related note, seeing very large or very tiny people wearing those shirts has not gotten old yet. Cracks me up every time.

Exciting game to listen to last night. Again a lot to like, and some not to like. Look forward to seeing the improvement for myself this weekend. If they are truly an improved team they really need to sweep.

Home games against a team you hope to finish above in the standings.....can't take anything less than the sweep..

Tech has the #7 scoring offense in the nation while UNION is #1. Everything is so wrong here. Tied for # 18 in goals against. And our power play is tied for 1st in the nation at 50% (7 for 14)!!!! BC is tied but is only 2 for 4. Cousens is also tied for #2 in assists per game with 6 in 3 games.

All success this year gets credited to Whitten:

From the gazette prior to the season:
"We way ahead of things preparation-wise," Russell said. "(Assistant coach) Damon (Whitten) brought in some new systems that Pat (assistant coach Mikesch) and I really liked. "We're changed our forecheck, our defensive zone coverage, and some of our offensive systems."

What else is left to change??

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

Yeah, unlike last season when we already had 3-4 players nursing injuries before we even played a freaking exhibition game, Damon Whitten's godlike powers are allowing us to start the season with almost everybody healthy.

Not to mention that I'm sure he's the only person within the entire program (players and staff) that is a motivating presence.

Do us a favor and go cheer for the Mildcats or something. It's like you actually want this team to lose so you can rag on Russell some more.

So Russell gets no credit for convincing Damon to take the job at MTU?
