Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

In other news, I think this is the more important part of bigblue's link:
*Excluded MTech's 1 wins over Northern Michigan because their game RPIs (0.7) would have lowered MTech's RPI (0.7008)

In other words, we actually need NMU to start winning games between now and the final meeting in December. Right now, they're counting as a "bad win". :p

Haha, ignore the joke in the picture. Look at the posting below that. New, College Hockey, Division 1, Men's Tryouts. Haha, Penn State?

So looking around a bit and maybe this has been answered before, but what happened to Tyler Gubb (noticed he was a recruit to be part of this years freshman class)?

I take it, nobody knows?

In response to the hump-rider, I think every Tech male has done worse (or not at all :p)

And in response to the rest of the homepage, I found this gem:
Michigan Tech has been fortunate to have incredible faculty members over the years. None have been as revered as Myron "Doc" Berry. He helped thousands of Michigan Tech students survive and thrive in his chemistry classes. And he even inspired a tradition of students in the residence halls playing "Another One Bites the Dust" the day of his first, tough freshman exam. The tradition continues today.

...despite The Institution's best efforts. :p

Re: "Next Year" Begins Now: Michigan Tech 2010-11 Season Thread Part I

I'm looking in to it but I'm not sure I'll get an answer. Probably the same thing that happen to Adam Stoykewych?

Obviously we can only speculate. In Adam's case, we were probably offering to let him walk on (just like Hietala), in an attempt to convince his brother to come here. When Peter committed to CC a week or so later, we likely backed out. As for Gubb, I read an article in his hometown paper which stated that we had offered him a scholie (whether it was a half scholie or less wasn't said, obviously). Whether said paper got the facts right or not, it's harder to say what happened to him.

Neat little "feature" we discovered. Figured we could do some interior decorating. Quote my last post for the HTML.

Anyone got a good hex code for gold? This is #FFFF00, which is too weasel-y for my tastes.

Ooooh, boy...as for a better gold, try #F4D431, maybe? Our gold should be a bit more orange.

Trying to figure out how to re-color the other window features, then we can have a black and gold thing going on.

So apparently Gubb is still planning on attending MTU and playing for the Huskies but he got caught in some clearinghouse issues because of changes to academic standards in BC. He may be eligible as soon as next semester but it is quite possible that even if he is eligible next semester that he gets redshirted. I have more info on Adam but I still need to verify it. What I can say is that after all that did happen it was a mutual decision between Adam and MTU to part ways.

I had strongly considered that it was an academic issue, however I assumed that our staff knew better than to not thoroughly research a recruit's academic standing after everything they went through to try and get CPZ cleared. Sounds like this was sprung upon them at the last minute over the summer.

I also figured it was mutual. Based on what I've read, I think his biggest priority was to continue playing with his brother.
