There's a reason why locals don't want to play for Tech, that goes back a long way, and it is Jamie Russell's fault when he can't recruit local kids. Makes complete sense. :rolleyes:

Ben had an exceptional USA Hockey Select camp in 2009, and followed that up with a good performance at a couple high-profile tourneys while playing for the Eagles...where the NTDP was in attendance. The USNTDP had him on the radar over a year ago...and have been keeping tabs since.

There is a reason why north-end kids don't particularly want to play for Tech...and it goes back a long way....which I won't get into here. I'm guessing if Ben gets some legitimate offers from some other schools, he will be gone. If he gets to stay with the NTDP, there will be offers...and lots of them.

This goes the same as another certain '95 birth year player from Calumet who is verbally committed to Northern...just not the desire to play for Tech.

Big Daddy please do go into it. It started long before Jamie Russell even played for Tech. the whole North End / South End thing.

Well, in reality, yes, Calumet's been good, but how many players in recent history have been D1 caliber? In fact, if I'm not mistaken, only 13 Calumet players have EVER played D1 hockey, and 9 of those were at Tech, with the most recent being Derby, obviously.

It all started when Doc Gibson (who was playing cover point) checked Big Jim McNaughton (in the rover position) from behind, and both fans booed loudly.

Well now I've seen everything. Tech gets votes in the USCHO poll this week. :eek: And more than Northern, too. Can't say you don't deserve them more than we do.

Scary...that happen in 2001-2002 after starting 2-0 with a sweep of St Lawrence. I remember because I was living in Duluth at the time and called into the local sports radio show to trash talk about the huskies because they received votes and were looking good...that came crashing down very quickly... :(

They're not getting any vote of confidence from me until I see how the next three games play out, at least.
