A few thoughts on my first game of the season yesterday: It was really eerie seeing the old Stadium in various states of demolition; I can't get over how really friendly and helpful most of the stadium personnel can be; I'm willing to be patient with Vasquez, I'll give him another start :p ; Texeira is in an incredible deep freeze, it's really kind of stunning who bad he looks; Gardner has to figure out how to steal first; Granderson can really cover some ground in the OF; Abreu looked good, Matsui, not so much.

Wasted game 2 of 2. HUGHEESSSSSS baby, all year long, he is daaaaa maaaaannnnn. That said, Eff the ticket nazi in 104, she wouldn't let us down in the top of the 9th, despite letting 2 of my boys down there in the 8th. Eff her. Hughes was dominant, Yanks forever.

You have no idea. Last year, a bunch of friends were able to slip a $10 with their ticket and the usher would let it slide for like outfield 100's, this year its been, so far, a total no-go. I imagine they will soften up once the season gets going, and are trying to take a stand early in the season for now.

Yes, I was quite drunk last night. Found a bodega behind a market, with $3 tallboys to drink. Bald Vinny and Tina (Queen of the bleachers) were both there, which was pretty cool. Some dumb bimbo came in with Red Sox gear, and got heckled as a result, same with some girl in Angels stuff. Idiots.:rolleyes:

Fun game last night. Cano is a superstar in the making. Looks very comfortable at the plate. Two big dingers. Tex playing great D and getting the walks but looks totally uncomfortable at the plate. Wagging his bat all over the place before the pitch and behind on every swing. Its all a timing thing for him and his timing is off right now. Hughes with a nice start although he walked a few too many. Big night by Granderson with his two triples and Jeter with a nice dinger. Winn is totally useless at the plate and Thames had a nice night with the bat.

Hughes was getting squeezed something friggin' awful last night. He did really well and some nice stuff working.

There were several pitches last night that my son and I were scratching our heads about that weren't called strikes. Hughes never lost his cool when things didn't go his way. Crowd gave Matsui a nice hand when he homered off Hughes. Hughes didn't let that early dinger bother him. BTW, beautiful throw by Granderson to throw out Matsui at home.

Cheering him when he got his ring was right on. Standing O for his first at bat and getting louder when he tipped his helmet was right on. Cheering him going yard on the Phranchise is a joke.

The "Ho" train has been derailed. He has been placed on the 15-day DL with a slight hamstring strain. He strained it warming up in the bullpen last night.

It should also be noted that this is the second lights-out start in a row that he has had with Cervelli behind the plate. He's been calling a great game for CC, and chipping in offensively too. Good stuff.

Game called in 6, bullpen gets a night off.

taking 2/3 from BOS, TB and LAA to start the season... LOVE IT, especially considering the slow starts this team has been prone to the past couple of seasons

This has happened in several games, so I can't think it's a coincidence. For Nick Johnson's first AB of the game, his intro music is "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus.

I sense there's a story there...
