New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

Re: New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

So, when I was waiting for the Megabus to take me back to Boston Thanksgiving weekend I was standing in line in this old parking lot and there was a sign that said something like "New York - home to six professional sports teams. And the Mets." I thought it was funny and sad at the same time. Being made fun of in your own city?

My reaction to that is (1) it's funny and (2) it's optimistic about the Islanders.

Re: New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

are they still paying him? they may as well. ;)
You joke, but...

For that matter...

Bonilla's last game as a Met was in 1999. We will be paying him until 2035.

Darryl's was in 1990. It is not known how long we will be paying him (or rather, the IRS and his ex-wife.)

In other, not unrelated, news:

The Mets said in a statement Thursday that they had hired CRG Partners, a firm known as a turnaround specialist and bankruptcy consultant, to provide “services in connection with financial reporting and budgeting processes.”

The Orioles are also still paying Bonilla although far less ($500k) and only for a couple years. Not sure when that one ends.

Re: New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

Here's the deal. I'm okay with the Mets being not great. Well, horrible. It reminds me of 02 and 03, when I could walk into Shea with a 20 dollar ticket and move down to somewhere better.

Re: New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

With the 1-0 win today, the Mets are 33-10 on Opening Day since 1970.

Re: New York Mets 2012: Fight the Future

Despite the win and Johan looking serviceable, albeit with 84 pitches in 5 innings, the Mets have been eliminated from playoff contention. :D :(

Someone break up the Mets!!!

Still on pace for 162-0. ;)

Franklin Francisco 3-for-3 on saves. Nice start by Niese today too.
