New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Tech feed is good enough. I can see the puck, that's what matters the most.
I guess if I'm a little pickier if I want to spend the same amount for WCHA.tv as I do for MLB.tv or NHL.com/GCL.

I'll likely buy a day pass for the few games I'll be home to watch but not plunking down for a full season.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Kudos to the WCHA for making their product free this weekend though. Went to try out NCHC.tv just to compare, and was greeted with "You're not a subscriber, buy a package now..."

NMU and BGSU both look real sharp and crisp, but it's pre-game and mostly stationary cameras. Streaming the NMU feed from my iPad to AppleTV, and most everything is readable at the Berry right now. No pixelation/compression issues right now. I'm sure that will change a bit once the cameras start following the action.

1) On the portal landing page, click on the appropriate watch or listen icon next to the broadcast you're interested in (if it is a free game, you won't be shown the purchase options...so you may have to pick a different game)
2) Select the passport you'd like to purchase and click "NEXT"
3) Login with your username and password or register a new account by clicking "REGISTER"
4) Enter your personal and billing information (this information MUST match exactly the info on record with your credit card issuing bank) and click "NEXT"
5) Enter your credit card information and click "NEXT"
6) Review the details of your order and click "NEXT"
7) If your order is successful, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and you can access your event with15 minutes of the scheduled start time by clicking on the corresponding watch or listen icon and clicking the "Sign In" link if you're not already signed in.

Thanks, I think I could have figured out how to purchase a single game (perhaps, maybe).

What I'm really wondering about and can't seem to figure out is how to purchase a season package like you were able to do with AmericaOne.

Can you purchase a season package? If so, how do I navigate through the WCHA.tv site in order to do so?

Thanks.

OK I think I figured it out; I got to the screen that allows you to choose a package (in this case the $89.99 package). But when I click CONTINUE it does nothing. Kind of frustrating.

Is anyone else having problems? Has anyone purchased a team season package or a WCHA season package?

Thanks!

Maybe try a different browser? Or make sure you don't have an add blocker on?

I haven't purchased my pass (yet). I'll be out of town this weekend so I won't be able to watch the games anyway. So, I'll be interested to hear how the streaming works this year! Please provide your feedback (good or bad) after the games this weekend!

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

It should be but it seems obvious that WCHA is trying to make some money off of this stuff.

So charge money on YouTube. You can rent movies, watch concerts, etc, and those cost money off YouTube. If it's simple enough (and clearly the most reliable platform - desktop or mobile), why even think of going elsewhere?

Because they have someone else to manage it all for them... and make a profit... and do advertising. Aside from that, the WCHA as a whole made the decision. Its not the individual schools.

They could stream on Youtube... sure. But then they have to have staff responsible for all of the details. With a dedicated provider, all the details are taken care of. All they have to do is connect a camera to a computer, run the software and make sure the audio is balanced.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

I wasn't too impressed with Alaska Fairbanks feed last weekend, hopefully things will improve. It looked fine at stoppages but during play there was lots of artifacts and resolution drop.

What gets me is that there are NHL pirate sites like hockeystreams.com that give almost perfect quality and legitimate sites can't seem to match. Dial up the bandwidth for those of us with higher speed internet.

Most of the time, the issue is the bandwidth leaving the arena and getting to the CDN.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

I'm using a iPhone to stream to my TV via AppleTV. The quality on the MTU broadcast was pretty good with no lag. The UAH has good quality video, but poor audio. They could stand to zoom in a bit more. The UAF game has a bit of artifacting.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Watched a couple of WCHA games yesterday using my Surface Pro and Chromecast. Nice quality except for some choppiness lagginess coming from the source (which I know because I stream Neflix and other streaming content perfectly).

The Chromecast works really well with compatible apps on both android and apple devices and with any computer running Chrome.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

How did everything go for other schools? I heard others complain of the audio levels from the Anchorage broadcast of the tournament saying the audio level was still a bit low - and the audio was behind the game by a couple of seconds.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

So MTU at FSU was unwatchable after the first period...flickering, stuttering and cutting out.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

NMU vs LSSU was great today. Best quality online college hockey broadcast I've watched to date. Multiple camera angles, replays, nice transitions and HD.

I do miss hearing the offair radio banter during the breaks. The finally figured out how to block that. Too bad... Dave says some funny stuff during those breaks.
