Um...

Talked my kid into renting Battleship tonight based upon the reviews on here...

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

And now you know what the rest of us already knew about Rimmy's "taste"? ;)

You should hear the music he likes.

On the contrary. Battleship was ****ING AWESOME!

Not quite as good as Independence Day, but much better than Starship Troopers.

For what it was - Summer Popcorn Flick - did not disappoint.

I was entertained and laughed along with every cliche.

It almost went off the rails (jumped the shark) with the old guys - even my kid said he now understood why people said it was a bad movie - but we both decided to lighten up and just go with it and were rewarded for our troubles.

Good fun.

Rental copies are available for $2.95 at our store and I will be owning this.

Nothing about this set of statements makes sense to me.

I enjoyed all three of those movies to varying degrees, but IMO Battleship was not awesome, and Starship Troopers is waaaay more interesting than Independence Day.

Opinions ya know! ;)

I was intentionally a little over the top in my review. Battleship was just what I was looking for last night though and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

It is a good, bad movie, though.

Starship Troopers did show boobs, so you may have a point.

Starship Troopers is beautiful. Brings a tear to me eye, it does.

Love how they wrap it up. It's like they realized at the end how bad the movie was and decided to pretend it was a joke all along. :D

Little Caesar (1931)

Pretty darn good movie. I was kind of surprised it was that short (about 80 minutes), but other than that, zero complaints here. Classic gangster movie.

K19-The Widomaker (2002)

While this was fact based, I still thought it was much better when it was fictional and called "Das Boot." That's about all that needs to be said.

Argo - 2012 While it was fact based, it is purely fiction.

I've never been a fan of the peanut farmer or this English wanker, but I agree wholeheartedly with Carter on this.

With K19, it was like watching the same movie as Das Boot, but it was much worse. And don't even get me started on the occasional at best Russian accent by Ford and Neeson.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

The original TMNT movies were horrible. This one will be crappy too. Remaking something you don't have to watch won't ruin your childhood memories of thinking crappy things were amazing.

And Battleship has yet to disappoint. Taken 2 was dumber than stupid and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter was, sadly, quite disappointing as well.
