New Poll Predictions for 11/15

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

Never :)

Just as long as everyone realizes that Adrian is overrated, Oswego fans think the Lakers need to win every game by 6 goals, the NESCAC and ECAC East schools compromise the CCCP, and its always RIT's fault. :):D

Speaking of RIT, why did you leave them out of your predictions? Aren't they still getting votes in the DIII poll?

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

My guess is Marian, looking at the rest of their schedule. They're done with both Adrian and MSOE. Yes, they've still got Norbert in a couple weeks, but they've also got Lawrence, and a whole lot of Concordia and Northland. Not a whole lot of places to drop games in there, conference-wise. As I said before, MSOE is still looking at 4 games with Adrian, starting in January.

I don't see MSOE hanging around all season either. Aside from playing Adrian, their nc schedule is somewhat soft. Lawrence could, however, give Marian some trouble later in the year.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

Yes. Complete with the "alright rook, listen up" at the top. :D

He edited that out - too late Derek - clearly as an NU Rook you've been subjected to ire of the Cadre :D
How many Centennial Stairs are there?
How many trees are there on the Upper Parade?

Important Rook Knowledge...

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

I'll do you one better. I wouldn't start the polls until the last weekend of November is over. That way everyone's been on the ice for a series or two.

This is the way it used to be done -- preseason poll and then wait about a month.

But like someone else said -- what would we have to talk about? And seriously, that's why the polls come out earlier now -- it brings publicity (and hits) to USCHO.

As far as teams not playing, I can tell you my attitude when I place my vote -- unless everyone else is tanking the season, if you haven't played a game, I tend to be very rough on you in the polls. I did vote Norwich No. 1 in my preseason poll, but that's obvious. I've been voting Oswego number 1 (and not because I'm the SUNYAC correspondent; I would do the same for any other team under the same circumstances) the past two weeks because it doesn't matter to me whether you are the defending national champions at this point. If you are not actually DEFENDING that title till the second month of everyone else season (and I don't give a crap what the reason is), and someone else is running the table against good competition, then I'm not voting you No. 1. Now, if Norwich goes out and wins the Primelink, I'll bounce them right back up to No. 1, because now you have proven to me that you are just as good as the national championship team the year before, and thus there is no reason at the time to think someone else is above you.

BTW, I bounced Plattsburgh out of my poll this week. Reputation does not sustain them a vote with the record they have with the losses they have.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

My first post of the season is a question. Plattsburgh's record 2-3, so early in the season, do they continue to drop in the poll? I could imagine them a lot lower than 11th place, but I also know they have a history of coming back strong. Oswego is on a strong roll to take 1st if Norwich has the same start Plattsburgh has had, but I don't think that will happen after watching the maroon and gold game last night. Cadets seems fast and huge.

im sure they r fast but HUGE?? Looked at a few rosters and they dont measure up, no pun intended, utica looks huge, and Genny has some big'uns.......Im sure the cadets will be running and gunning, man another pun, polls mean little at this point.......

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

It seems that the polls are there just to provide discussion on the teams. The polls sometimes don't even matter at the end of the season either when the selection committee starts deciding on who will go to the big dance or not. I know it has been said a million times but DIII should adapt DI system for determining the polls. So untill the tourney is set, all is a mute point.

As well you should have. If I had a vote, I'd have them at 14-15 at best, and that's pushing it with the results before us. We're past the point where "reputation" should even be a factor for Plattsburgh. But, much like Middlebury when they're having a down time, I expect to see Plattsburgh's name when the polls are out.

Thomas Paine would admire your integrity, scribe.

Huh?

This post make no sense at all. The USCHO polls, whether D1 or D3, they are both done using the exact same method, have nothing to do with selecting playoff teams.

The NCAA method of selecting playoff teams is very similar between D1 or D3. So, I have no idea what you saying.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

I think despite splitting the weekend, utica's going to end up with more votes. although they did not come away victorious, they played a great game against oswego with 13 freshmen on the team.

I'm going to get crucified for this but i did not like the series of late hits oswego got away with.... the van boxmeer hit was just plain dirty. they say they're going to start calling this stuff....

It should be a real interesting game in oswego in a few weeks.

The USCHO.com Poll is compiled weekly and consists of 20 voters, including 15 coaches of Division III programs and five men's hockey writers. USCHO.com provides in-depth coverage of college hockey.

There is your poll for the week.

Point moves up a spot after losing twice? Granted they didn't get blown out but still...and Oswego loses a first place vote?

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/15

I find it a odd to see teams that haven't played a shift move up or down from week to week...but
Has any team with a losing record ever been ranked ...... or is this a first ?

Rank Team Record Pts Last Week
13 Plattsburgh 2-3-0 69 8
