Initial reactions:

Plattsburgh and SNC switch - I'm actually happy they did this. This is based solely on the Williams tie. Without it, the cards are still #3. The team just hasn't gotten it done when it really matters, against ranked opponents. They need a wake-up call, bigtime. Hopefully only temporary, though, as the Cards look to establish themselves as a contender this weekend.

CSS over Elmira - I don't get this one as much. Yes, Elmira's 2 wins were only against LVC, but they were wins. The quality of the wins justifies them dropping to #5, with nobody actually passing them, but I don't see dropping them to #6 and putting the Saints ahead of them... :(

Williams jumps from 15 to 9 - Wowza! Clearly the highest climber. Tie against (then) #3 Plattsburgh, and 2 victories on the weekend... clearly deserved.

Middlebury drops from 6 to 12 - GOOD! They shouldn't even be in, the way they're playing this season!

Can't wait until Saturday!

Prez, how and where did you get the poll, I am still seeing Jan 18th poll!:(

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

Why does everybody have Midd in the top 15 when they are 5th in the NESCAC?

I gotta agree but was trying to predict what I thought might happen based on past observations. Those guys don't like to be too hasty.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

Fitchburg State has to be getting some votes right? 11-3-1 with their only losses coming to westfield, salem, and amherst and a tie to wentworth. They've beaten NEC and swept westfield and salem the 21st and 23rd of last week.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

All in all fair although I detect a slight NCHA bias. Oh well, it will only be around for a week. Still no one should be complaining about east coast bias anymore. PrezeJohnson was correct to include River Falls (11-6-2) (5-5-2) (go figure). They have lost six games which should be enough in my book to knock them out of the top 15. They are in 4th place in the NCHA behind Stout (9-7-3) (6-3-3). Stout beat them twice. Stout's NC schedule had losses to Norwich (9-1) Middlebury (7-3) Augsburgh (5-4) and Gust A (4-1). RF's NC schedule was mainly wins agaist teams like St.Marys (1-15) St. Thomas (6-9-4) Bethel (8-11) and Concordia Wi (0-15-2). Some of these teams they played twice. To their credit they managed to eek out a win over Augsburgh (1-0) however lost to Gustavus on home ice (3-2).

In other words if Stout is better than RF in conference and head to head, does poorly against nc ranked and quality teams then it follows that RF would probably not fair much better if they played many quality non-conference opponents. Maybe just Maybe the NCHA is overated or at least Stout deserves top 15 consideration.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

The two things I most question are the inclusion of Manhattanvile, and the exclusion of Colby. Manhattanville's SOS is really lousy, the only decent NC opponents that they have faced are Curry and Williams (and they lost both of those games). Middlebury probably doesn't belong either, but they are close. Colby has a 12 game unbeaten streak, including a tie with Norwich. I don't get why MAN is in and CLB is out.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

I'm certainly glad that Elmira didn't win four games this past weekend ! If they had (using the logic of the current poll) they would have dropped out of the top ten. Sorry their wins "weren't as important" as the other teams, why punish a team for who they play ???

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

NCHA bias Part 2.

Although St. Schol had a good showing against Hamline out of conference their next strongest wins were against Salem State (7-6-2) in overtime followed by Lawrence 7-3 (7-8-1). Other non-conference wins include Concordia Mn. 4-3 (5-11-3), Bethel 5-1 (8-11-0) and Northland 13-1 (2-15-0). As can be seen, other than Hamline, their non-conference schedule was not particularly strong. They did manage to lose against St. John's 1-3 (5-9-3) which in my book is comparable to loosing to say a Morrisville.

Stout tied St. Schol twice. Stout's NC schedule had losses to Norwich (9-1) Middlebury (7-3) Augsburgh (5-4) and Gust A (4-1). In other words if Stout can tie St. Schol twice then Maybe just Maybe St. Schol does not deserve to be in front of Elmira, the NCHA is currently overated and/or Stout deserves top 15 consideration.

Colby is 15th?

Best of the rest:
Colby, Wenworth, Bowdoin, Fredonia

Yeaaahhhh, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Slightly off here easterner.

Here's the poll.

Others Receiving Votes: Wentworth 17, Curry 13,
Bowdoin 12, Fredonia 5
, Wis.-Superior 4,
Wis.-Stout 2

Only slightly.

Clearly the last place team in the NCHA and the one who got smoked by the two Eastern teams they played deserve more than a combined 6 votes...

Re: New Poll Predictions for 1/25

How did he get each team's points out of the article?

Because Prez likes math so much he probably calculated it himself :p

If I am correct...and I'm not saying I am...a first place vote gets you 15 points, second 14 pts, third 13 points, etc down to 15th which gets you 1 point.
