New Hampshire vs. Boston College - Mar 4/5 - Battle for Top Seed

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College - Mar 4/5 - Battle for Top Seed

How is losing to the #2 team in the country a choke? I'm serious on this one because your definition and mine must be different.

I thought the wink might give it away, but I was actually referring to a couple different things. FWIW, I don't think UNH choked. Although, has to be disappointing to lose after having a 2-0 lead halfway through the game.

BC is a pretty good team. No shame in losing a game to a good team. The only thing that made me frustrated tonight was UNH handing the puck over to Atkinson with 15 seconds to go in the 2nd. Other than that I thought it was a pretty good hard fought game.

Haven't looked at the updated PWR, but are BC fans better off rooting for UVM to beat UNH and knock them out of the NCAAs or for UNH to beat UVM and move up from a 4 seed? Whatever can keep BC in Manchester...
At this moment, unh is at 12 (still a 3 seed).... don't know how much playing vermont will help though

Looked like a wicked poorly timed line change.

UVM and UMass will be easy outs... for these two awfully good teams...

Wouldn't be surprised if NU and Merrimack join you guys at the Garden.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College - Mar 4/5 - Battle for Top Seed

Umass played BC tough this year, no guarantees, bunch of tight one goal games

Well, the last two yes...first game was a joke. No doubt that UMass has been highly competitive lately...just haven't been able to win.

0-6-2 in their last 8 with a combined goal differential of 6.

It was a hard fought close game that even with the late turnover in the second seemingly changing the momentum, and it did, UNH still came back to tie in the third after BC took the lead. I think BC had a number of great chances in the third but either missed or DiGi came up with big stops. My first visit to Lake Whitt was thoroughly enjoyable and made better by some classy UNH fans i met ;) thanks guys! now just get to the Garden, there's no reason that team shouldn't be there:)

Well, it's still better to get there and choke than to not get there at all ;)

I'm confused by this. Was UNH not trying to score again? Should BC have let them score? Point being BC had a say in UNH not scoring to make it 3-0.

Will UVM be?

Must have been an enjoyable ride back from Durham. When you enter the season with a target on you and then have to chase down a team all year...pretty cool to be standing on top after the final game.

Good luck against UVM. If BC has to go out west, hopefully we can see both these teams in St. Paul.

If BC goes west, so what? Seems they won a couple of championships out west these last few years. That teams seems as prepared as anyone to play anywhere. For UNH, I doubt they drop to a four anyways. They will roll UVM, especially after what happened last year, and make the semis. I think they are a three at worst.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College - Mar 4/5 - Battle for Top Seed

Congrats, BC -- you were clearly the better team this weekend. As every UNH fan would say, Friday night's game was a pathetic effort for the 'Cats -- we were unworthy to be on the same sheet of ice. Last night was a different story, and although I left the game disappointed with the result, I wasn't disappointed with the effort. There is no shame in losing to the better team, and I'm content with ending up in 2nd place.

From what I've seen, BC has it all: from top to bottom, side to side, and from one end of the ice to the other. You're big, fast, and forecheck/backcheck so well. We had many chances last night in front of the net that appeared to be sure goals, only to have the puck be cleanly and deftly swept away by a defender's stick. Your passing is laser-sharp, and those soft saucers lofted to a guy in front for a bat-in goal are an example of the talent you have. Maybe I'm displaying some (Hockey) Eastern bias here, but there's no reason to think BC won't win it all and repeat as the national champions.

And Joe -- it was great to meet you, glad you enjoyed your first experience at the Whitt. You're right -- not all BC fans are as I had described. Hope to catch up with you again at the Garden!

Good to meet you as well! I hope we do get to the Garden. Based on last night, if we were to meet up again for the HE championship, it would be a fun game to watch. (But not if it were like Friday's :o )

I think UNH lost to the best team in the country last night, but gave up a pretty good fight. BC is awesome.
See? We're not really arrogant. We just tell it like it is. ;) :D

Re: New Hampshire vs. Boston College - Mar 4/5 - Battle for Top Seed

Last night's game was a great display of college hockey....goblue said it all pretty well, and I'm glad that sterlippo and the other BC fans had an enjoyable time at the Whitt...your fan base travels well....my question is to fivehole12....arrogant or honest, I know the answer when Maine is the issue....I know Coach York and he's a great Coach and humble guy, so he doesn't breed the arrogance, yet I have to ask what makes BC a Jesuit school? Is it the tax write off ability or what, because you clearly are a sporting giant, (the ACC et al) and enjoy the limelight, but would a BC athlete do what the BYU athlete do when breaking the rules? Just asking...not sour grapes, just questions that were brought up in a discussion last night....

What in the world are you talking about?

That wasn't a question... that was a lot of questions. But here goes...
1. I don't know... I'm a hockey fan, not a Jesuit. But here ya go... Jesuit Tradition
2. I don't know... I'm not an accountant, so I can't answer the tax write-off question.
3. BYU = Mormons. BC = Jesuits. I don't understand the question.

Question for you.. what do the mormons do when they break the rules? Do they shoot themselves in the head? If that is the case, then I feel quite certain the answer to #3 is no.

Do I look like an encyclopedia or something? :D

BYU is a mormon school that has a student code they agree to that includes premarital sex. BC clearly does not and I dont think Notre Dame does either. BYU is the Division 1 version of Liberty. I would to consult Ms. Cleo to determine what the hell you mean regarding the rest of it.
