My lack of attendance was due to an awesome trip out to the Montpelier Hunt Races in VA... Steeplechasing!!!

Either of the latter would be cool given how tonight started -- nice that they've at least clawed their way back into this thing (as with the Beagles last week)...

Unfortunately they're in (very) hostile territory. The run of play has gone in our favor, let's just keep the momentum going.

I hate to say it but MC is not going to be the cellar dewellers this year.

They actually train for some of that at the farm just above where I live -- makes for some very nice trails in the woods.

Yours was a better weekend than mine: my son up at Keene was trying to get over the swine flu, so I took AMTRAK up to try to boost morale (and check him out of a dorm and into a hotel for two nights of badly needed rest).

Then took The Vermonter (10 hours!) straight from Brattleboro to DC for two days of wall-to-wall meetings (hence the late dinner and the Brasserie Beck excursion).

Train is cool in one sense though -- you can get work done on it...

That's cool. I've been a fan of horse racing as long as I can remember. When I was a kid we had a satellite dish, and I used to watch racing from NY all the time. I remember when steeplechasing was a regular thing at Belmont and Saratoga. Not sure if they still do it at those tracks, but I used to find it quite facinating when they held them. Definitely a sport from yesteryear now.
