New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

Re: UMA 4 UNH 3, Overtime

Re: UMA 4 UNH 3, Overtime

Parkhurst says its a softie without saying its a softie...

UMass announcers thought it was soft, although after watching the replay, didn't think it was a s bad as when they saw it live.

Re: New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

I hear Captain Morgan calling me......good night all.

Same for me and the Dewers... Everyone have fun tomorrow night with the debacle that is the Cats Hockey... I'll be watching the Football team...

Re: New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

Yippee!! That is not worth a hill of beans in 09-10. That's all.
BTW, love your own sig, Chad. Wish you'd add the ECAC championship in 1979 as well -- 4-3 over Dartmouth in the final at the Gahden.

#17 Bobby Gould, at 17:17 of the third period, with the screaming gamewinner past (current Big Green coach) Bob Gaudet.

They beat Cornell in the semis correct???

Good call... I will add that (hope I have enough space left!)

That was the '77 semi-final (BU beat them in the final the next night :( ).

It was an amazing game: 10 to 9 in double overtime -- I kid you not. Probably the loudest I ever heard that place.

I had a great view of the winning goal, as we were sitting right down low and behind the Cornell net in the second OT...

Pretty sure Gouldie had that gamewinner as well -- slapper on the dead fly from the top of the faceoff circle that was absolutely corner-labeled.

Re: New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

listened to like 2 minutes of the game in the 3rd. UNH was up 3-2 with 6 minutes to play.. reading the posts .. all i can think of is that's just a tough way to go out.. travel for 3 hrs, and caugh up the lead in the waining moments and let a 'softie' or as Pallastrone used to say, 'a cupcake' beat you. F! 'N A. That's bites. Hopefully they come out and smash a few heads tomorrow night, legally, and let them know that they got lucky tonight.

Re: New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

Snively - that Bobby Gould goal at 17:17 will be one I always remember - what a great season that was.

UMass up 2-0... UNH crawls back... UMass with a back breaker late in the third... Softie in OT...

GO UNH FOOTBALL!!!!

Indeed! Glad someone else was there for it (and what a nice, nice guy Gouldie was as well). For that one, me and my HU grad school buds had seats in that part of the Garden's upper deck that virtually hung right over the ice -- felt like we were looking at it from directly above. ;)

And speaking of great kids, I never saw goalie Greg Moffett look so tired and happy as he he did when he came off the ice after that long-in-coming title win...

Re: New Hampshire @ Massachusetts 11/13

Richard, I changed my sig line now... :)
Love it, Chad!

FWIW, we were also regular season ECAC champs in 1974 (not all that long after we got up to Div 1), but I think that's plenty to make the point. ;)

That '99 NCAA championship game loss to Maine in OT still hurts a bit (didn't help that the NCAA came down pretty hard on them for violations not too long thereafter)...

Richard, no reg season titles. They need to be special.

Point well taken. It was a great squad and a cool season, though ('til it ended well before it should have).

Over and out from this end -- hoping for better luck tomorrow. And if you haven't already done so, check out the beautiful pictures of the Abbey's brewery at that Wikipedia Rochefort site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochefort_Brewery

Just 15 monks total living/working in the order there -- punching well above their weight class brew-wise...

No kidding! Ok, Richard, have a good night! Go football tomorrow vs Wm & Mary! And go hockey again vs UMass!

The NC$$ penalties were in the mid-90's, before the '99 title. In fact, the '99 team was short on scholarship players because of those sanctions.

Count me in, Richard -- I was there as well. And the place was ROCKIN' indeed after that goal.
