New #1 Team

Re: New #1 Team

Again, I'm not a Quinnipiac fan. I don't care if they are ranked 1st or 59th. I just dislike the "fans" here that discount Quinnipiac's season because of previous ECAC team's performance. It would be as ridiculous as saying that Minnesota wasn't deserving of the #1 ranking because North Dakota crapped the bed against Michigan and BC in the past.

Also, I find it hilarious that "fans" rip on a team that they've probably never even seen play. Of course, that goes back to equating past performance of a conference with current performance of a team. I certainly understand being skeptical of the team. I don't think I'll pick Quinnipiac to win the National Championship...barring significant changes. However, in my opinion, who is going to win the national championship in April and who is deserving of a #1 ranking currently are two separate questions. Do I think Quinnipiac is deserving of the #1 ranking right now, in January? Yes. If you don't, that's fine. I'm also not saying that there aren't several teams deserving of the #1 ranking.

I'm discounting the fans (and non-fans) who are proclaiming Quinn as a legit contender/good program. They are having a Cinderella season. That's fine. Enjoy it. But recognize it for what it is: an improbable run.

Re: New #1 Team

Go Bobcats!!! QU is the best team in the country. They are 8-0 against ranked opponents, 18-3-3 overall, and 11-0-1 ECAC. Come check them out at the TD Bank Sports Center or on nationally televised NBC Sports against Yale on February 23. :D

And that tie came to a team that was, at the time, dead last.

Are you OK with having your perfect league record being blown to the last place team (at the time) in the EZAC?

Yes, it's one game. Is BC no longer a "contender" since they just got swept by the last place team in HE? Which by the way QU beat earlier this year

Re: New #1 Team

No one cares about AIC or RPI. The bottom line is that Quinnipiac is currently out-performing all other D1 programs. Every college hockey fan knows that it is almost
impossible to be perfect over the course of the season. Nevertheless, QU has come very close.

You do understand your last meeting with RPI was the tie, and it was no more than two weeks ago, yes?

Q-Pac sucks.

Re: New #1 Team

Go Bobcats!!! We love competing in the ECAC! We love playing against all of our league teams! We especially appreciate playing Yale at least twice every year! The New Haven area is becoming a college hockey mecca with two top ten teams about five miles apart on the same street known as Whitney Avenue.

Fans from the traditional powerhouses can hate, moan, and groan all they want. Bobcat fans know how good their team is and how wonderful it is to play in the ECAC.

See you at the #1 spot USCHO on Monday. (We already have the #1 Pairwise in our back pocket).

Re: New #1 Team

Beat Maine who just swept BC this weekend
Who beat Dartmouth
Who beat their in-state rival UVM
Who beat St. Larry
Who throttled Maine (twice)
Who pounded Colgate
Who thrashed the vaunted Qpac.
Therefor, Quinnipiac is a decided lousy team.

Re: New #1 Team

In the FWIW department.

Being the only common opponent of both Minnesota and Quinnipiac, and having seen all 4 games between those teams and UNO, I can say that from my perspective the Mavericks had more trouble with Quinnipiac than they did with the Gophers (all 4 games were road games for UNO).

Uh, obviously, I guess, since they were swept by Quinnipiac and split with the Gophers.

HOWEVER, the Mavericks trip to Hamden was delayed by weather problems and they never even so much as skated up there before playing the first game. And, they therefore had not skated or practiced since before Christmas. They had to show up and play the Bobcats cold. I think it affected our play quite a bit. Dunno what might have been different, if anything, if that hadn't happened.

I certainly don't have any issue with the Bobcats being voted #1 (if they are) this Monday, But I have real doubts that is going to happen. Sadly, the simple fact of the matter is that it is Minnesota, and it is Quinnipiac we are talking about here. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying that's the way it is, unfortunately.

You sincerely believe Quinnipiac would beat Minnesota?
