20 mins. in penalties for the least penalized team in the league... Arrrrgh...
Was at the game last night. Great hockey game for the spectators, which included many Colby folks. As an admittedly biased fan, I would say that most of Colby's 20 minutes were deserved. Strongly suspect that Colby would say that Tufts deserved a few more and they could be right, although the Jumbos are played a much more disciplined game this year. Nik Nunes was excellent in goal for Tufts, making two spectacular saves on short handed breakaway attempts by Colby in the third period, preserving a one goal lead. Don't know that any team in NESCAC has a better 1-2 pair in goal than the Jumbos.
I don't doubt that they deserved them. I had to open another window to do some work, and only heard the audio on the first major, and then stepped away from the computer for a minute, when they got the second one. So I didn't see either one. I had this game picked to go into OT at one apiece, and I was right on target until that 5-on-3. Never heard of a 5 min. major for interference. What did that look like?
Congratulations to the Colby Mules. They've been playing solid hockey this year. Coach Blaise MacDonald has installed a system that takes full advantage of the available talent while minimizing the inevitable holes that are still in the process being filled. I saw both games, Friday in Brunswick and Saturday on Colby's excellent webcast (the student announcers were knowledgeable and very fair), and was impressed with Colby. The Mules deserved to win both games. They played with confidence, exploited the Polar Bears' defensive deficiencies, and never quit. Coach MacDonald has brought Colby back into the upper echelon of the league. And the team will only get better.
Bowdoin seems still to be adjusting to Coach Jamie Dumont's system and leadership. By all accounts he's very much liked by his players, which bodes well for the future of this team. The Polar Bears are young but very talented. The forwards are very creative with the puck. However, defensive mistakes and an unfortunate tendency to take unnecessary penalties cost the Polar Bears the games this past weekend. The Polar Bears have had trouble protecting leads this season. I expect these issues to be corrected. Coach Dumont is doing a good job molding this team, but it'll take some time for the young players to fully reach their potential.

Bored... Nothing to watch... Anybody have full-game video of one or both of the two Bowdoin-Colby games?
did you check nsnsports.net?
You need a password to view past games. I sent them an email, but they never responded. Don't know what qualifies someone for the privilege.
You would need to get the password from the school. NSN password protects some of their clients games at their request to avoid teams from being about to scout and watch game film.
You're kidding, right? I know at the D1 level they upload their game tape to the internet service that night. Is D3 that different? Or is it the NESCAC?

This is likely a matter of contract between NSN and the schools that air their games on the service. Not all the NESCAC teams use NSN. Tufts and Conn Col use different services. There are probably ways to download the live stream to your computer. But, that's probably beyond my capabilities.
That being said, NSN is fantastic.
Yes, indeed. Since a few years ago you could watch some of college hockey reruns for free.
