Nescac 2016-17

Re: Nescac 2016-17

Having watched Middlebury take Norwich to OT twice this season, it's baffling that this was the Panthers' first win this season. They are way more talented than their 1-13-2 record indicates.

They are more talented than their record, but Midd's problem for the past several seasons has been consistency. If they played every game like they played against Norwich, they would be first place in NESCAC and fighting for a spot in the top 5 nationally. But...

With just a few exceptions this season, they are failing to show up for an entire period, usually the third. Conditioning? Discipline?

February 25th will be the 40th Anniversary of Slapshot. Take all your money and let it ride on Bowdoin.

Re: Nescac 2016-17

What a race 6 teams in the running for first place. Pick game of the upcoming week Trinity@ Williams Friday nite

This is going down to the wire, and then you can toss all the records out the window for the playoffs. I love NESCAC hockey!

Amherst needs a win this afternoon against the Mules. Took in the Trinity-Williams game last night a hard fought match that could have gone either way Frankie Mork has been stellar for the Ephs

Williams loses - Colby wins. They are tied for first with Colby owning the tiebreaker. Things haven't gone this well for the Mules in many years.

Re: Nescac 2016-17

No idea what happened - but Trinity led 8-1 at the second intermission, and went on to take 18 shots and score 3 more in the third, including at 19:59. Ouch.

Re: Nescac 2016-17

Interesting weekend coming up. Oh, the possibilities... Colby was lucky to come out of the Nutmeg State with a split. So, they are sitting in third looking up at Williams and Hamilton, who have to play each other. That would be great for the Mules, but for the fact that Hamilton's other game is against Midd, which did absolutely nothing this past weekend to help their cause. Only six points separate the top seven teams and the Bantams are nipping at the Mules hooves. Ain't this fun!!? It looks like Hamilton, Colby and Williams 1-2-3.

I don't see Middlebury slowing Hamilton down at all on Friday, so it will probably come down to Williams at Hamilton on Saturday.

Re: Nescac 2016-17

Williams is in the drivers seat but has a tough weekend ahead with the Ex-Jeffs and the Continentals.Could Colby sneak by with a weekend sweep?

Re: Nescac 2016-17

Hamilton controls its own destiny,Trinity climbing and hoping for another Williams-Amherst tilt next week if the stars align. Last nights game was a dandy. Ex-Jeffs killing off a 5 min major scoring the game winner just as the penalty expired and weathering the storm in the first period when they were totally outplayed

Re: Nescac 2016-17

Additional commentary on WIL/AMH: Agree with Eddie, very good game, though sloppy at times. Amherst played a strong game defensively, and was able to shut down Williams when it mattered most. Williams completely dominated the play in the first period, only to lose momentum during / after their 5 (4:10) min powerplay. Most surprising from this game was the selfishness of the skilled players on Williams - Williams could barely get the puck out of their own end during the last three minutes because of players continually trying to skate it end to end themselves (both defensemen and forwards). Williams does not seem to be a real contender this year - I'd expect another early exit from the Ephs unless they can really turn things around.
