Re: nCoV 2019-2020 Outbreak

I believe I have a "cover all" on my corporate bingo card with this post.

One fun thing is I'm the regional ethics trainer for my company (I know; stop laughing) and I get to choose my courses, times, and students. Everybody has to take them. So I guess the mahogany row class is going to happen right about the time I am at peak contagion.

Also: I handle all the materials.

Huh.

You’re the best.

Re: nCoV 2019-2020 Outbreak

I remember someone around here saying PTO is the stupidest ****ing thing ever. I can’t quite remember who that was.

It's not stupid. It's just cynical. It makes an illness the equivalent of a vacation, from the company's POV.

Tell me again how the decline of unions was good?

No I know. It’s why PTO has to be a Republican plan. My company still has sick time separate. I’m super thankful.
1. I don’t have to worry about using it when I’m sick
2. I preserve my vacation
3. Other people don’t feel the pressure to work
4. We get to shame the American Heroes who think they should work sick

Yeah. We switched to PTO along with the rest of the world. No shock there. I've been working all week while home sick. Fun stuff.

It’s called choice! Choice is good, right? It’s your time off, you can use it for vacation or to be sick. Murica gives you that freedom! Almost as beautiful as our choices for health plans

Well it's just like health insurance. You can choose not to get it and die or you can choose to get a crappy plan and go bankrupt when you get sick or you can choose rich parents and have a good plan. See? Freedumb!

Except the rest of the world doesn't use PTO. They get 5 weeks of actual vacation. And sick time. And you can be sick for months and still collect your full salary. And parental leave for both parents. And healthcare. And leadership that knows how to handle a crazy sickness.

Five CASES of TP? Self-quarantine will last two weeks. Maybe four. We don’t go through that much TP in a year.

No, you misunderstand. They're quarantining to avoid the virus. Ain't planning on leaving their home for months. Probably living in the doomsday prepper shelter they had buried in the back yard.

That's because in some parts of the world the rich didn't completely take over the government and gut democracy in the 80s.

There are times like this where I wish I didnt have morals and could sell suckers bottled filtered water, duct tape, etc., at insane marked up prices as "prepper supplies."

My employer's emergency plan for cov-19 includes the following advice for self-quarantined:

Translation: go f-ck yourself.

It never ceases to amaze me how shortsighted and stupid business people are.

I guess our employees who got it were given paid leave during the quarantine period.

At least you have paid time off.

So ungrateful.

We're not the rest of the world, we're 'Murica! Don't like it then move, libturd. ;)

So does mine ... BUT...

If you're out five consecutive days, don't you flip to short term disability? Does your company pay 100% salary for STD? Mine does NOT!
