that's true.

Medicare/Medicaid picks up the tab for those covered that way

that leaves the uninsured, who assuming the government doesn't intervene to make it free for everyone, will be able to get the vaccination at their local Walgreens for $20-$40.

our healthcare system is a mess, but I don't think there is a big barrier from widespread vaccination once it is available

Not a big barrier, huh? So you're going to cover the fees at Walgreens for the millions who can't afford it? That's very generous.

TBH if it were just the vaccine that would be 20M x $40 = $800M a year, and that's nothing in the federal budget. I'm sure Dump has cost us more in fraudulent billings for his golf clubs during his presidency than that.

But it isn't. As with the cost of aircraft carriers, the solution that best makes sense is to eliminate insurance completely and have doctors directly bill the USG. The patient gets sick and goes to the hospital. She never sees a bill. We don't get personally billed when the air force drops bombs on weddings in Pakistan.

Great, then we'll have a generation of people who claimed their kids caught The Autism because of rushed vaccines for Coronavirus.

if there is a pandemic I have a feeling the CDC will be shipping this stuff for free to every pharmacy in the country. It would be nice if they actually manufactured it themselves instead of shipping our tax dollars off to a for-profit pharma though. So in that sense, I will be paying for the uninsured through my tax dollars. You're welcome.

Sometimes public-private partnerships are good. WOuld I prefer there wasn't profiteering due to a pandemic? Yes. Do I also want the vaccine produced as fast as ****ing possible? Also yes. Throw everything we have at this. Worry about the waste later.
