Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Come on Go J, where's at least a little love:) You know in your heart it will be a battle between UWSP and UWS to see who comes out on top of the other. Games are yet to played to determine how the NCHA will look this year. But, for now, have fun with your crystal ball:D Excellent crop of blackberries this year:D

I was down to the berrypatch the other night, and from what I can remember...she's gonna be a bumper crop this year...;)

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Just looking for people's thoughts here, but did the poor choices of a few of UW-Stout's Men's Hockey players ruin the future establishing of a Women's Hockey program for the BlueDevils?

Not sure whether we the people, should be publicly convicting anyone at this point.

Can't lie to you though Falcon...to further burden all that are grieving over this tragedy with the suggestion that the outcome may have a hand in the demise of a future women's program seems ...in poor taste and significantly irrelevant at this point.

the sensitivity of the women's board astonishes me sometimes. Go check out the UW-Stout thread on the men's board. I'm guessing being in River Falls he knows more about the situation that you over on Mt Olympus.

On the original question...I wouldn't forsee this affecting the possibility of a women's team negatively...it might help it out. There is much discussion on the men's board about the fate of the men's team because of this incident, you can read that there.

If that is how you see that is how you will see it, however I feel it is relevant right now. Just as is all the people whose images are damaged by an incident like this whether or not these guys are convicted. The team, players, coaches, athletic department, school. And if the hockey team goes so do the coaches' jobs. So now those guys are out jobs. Former and current players now are associated with this incident whether or not these guys get convicted so that hurts there reputations as well. Any old student not associated in any way with the hockey team is affected by this incident so to say that it is irrelevant that this could affect a potential Women's program is beyond me. This affects everyone on that campus and I am positive that very few schools would ever consider a women's team without having a men's and so I would say posing the question of whether this could cripple that chance for women to play at stout is vaild.

Can't speak for River Falls but over here on Mt. Olympus...people are normally innocent till proven guilty.

Three families, many friends and loved ones will be devastated by this tradgedy. I would like to think that the farthest thing from anybody's mind at this point would be the future of the Female Blue Devils or whatever they are called.

I don't like to get personal on these types of things but I feel as though I can this once.

If you read my post you would "whether convicted or not" a couple of times.

This is Women's Hockey forum with a title which includes NCHA making at Stout Women's Hockey discussion more than relevant considering it highly unlikely they would play in any other league.

Trying to make it sound as though I have no respect for the weight of this issue....that is an issue for me. Countless people associated with UW-Stout have their reputations already tainted to some extent but it could get worse for them.

To take your underlying message trying to say I'm a bad person because I brought this up and don't care about the people involved is disgusting. You don't know me, and I guarantee if your just worried about these people's feelings (Three families, many friends and loved ones) that there are more people there that I am thinking about in this situation, including friends whom I wonder now how safe they really are at that campus. People like Terry Watkins who is a great guy and has worked hard trying to rebuild that program who might lose his job. And besides worrying and praying for all that to iron itself out there is a lot more which I don't need to list to make my case.

Basically what it comes down to is this forum is about Women's Hockey and that is what I intend to discuss as well as outside issues potentially affecting the NCHA whether it ruffles your feathers or not.

Sure...I hope everything works out for your hockey team.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

Just wondering it looks like people have Adrian ranked pretty low overall. Last season and the one before( even though they were independant) they played the NCHA as well as any team in there, am I missing something as to why they should finish so far down the list this season

I think most people have them around 4. I think it is for a few reasons.

1. They have been so up and down over the past couple years, you don't know what your going to get.
2. All the discord among the team and the coach that there are rumors about doesn't seed to well with them continuing to be good.
3. They are a good home team, but don't fare well on the road generally. So looking at their schedule... at Superior, at River Falls, at Stevens Point, at lake forest, and at St. Norbert....I can't see them finishing above 4th.

Maybe but also you have to look at the fact that three of thier top scoring fowards did not see major ice time after Thanksgiving I know one was suspended and eventually kicked off the team but the other two must have been injured and I think all three will return next year and then the first string should be available to play in the playoffs this year. I think that makes them better then a 4 seed. I doubt even this coach thinks going back to the playoffs using her secound tier players is the way to go.

Re: NCHA 10-11.....**** You St. Norbert

It's no secret that Kempson is a prolific scorer and can change the momentum of a play by stealing the puck from the other team. I hear she will be returning this year GO DOGS. Semma and Davis came in third and fourth in scoring for fowards and both saw limited ice from mid November on. Basically they only got 2 to 4 minutes ice for 17 games or so most of which were halfway into the second or third peroid after sitting idle for 40 minutes or more. I watched one game where one of the two got only 1 shift a PK halfway into the secound period. And several games were both never touched the ice. I have seen all three of the players skate live over the last three years two for the juniors, and I can tell you that they are fast and very skilled. The players used were not near as skilled and only one out of the three had any skating ability at all. I make these observations as a fan that has seen almost every home game this team has played and watch video feeds or live stats of the away games when available. That is why I figure the two players must have been injured no one drives a Hugo when the have a perfectly good Maserati in the garage . Best of luck stay healthy ladies can't wait to see you skate this season. GO DOGS.
